Anyone who signs up a child for summer tutoring is eligible to receive a discount of $10 for the 1st referral and $5 per additional referral (or refund if sessions have been previously paid in full). Please be sure to remind thoes you have referred to write down your
full name (First and Last) on the application. Jessica is signed up for summer tutoring and two of her friends have also signed up. Both friends were referred by Jessica's parents. This means Jessica's parents will receive a 1 time discount of $15 off summer tutoring fees. Here are a few question and answers for you all. Q: What subjects are your strengths? A: My strengths are working with kids k-8 with math and reading. Q: What subjects do you enjoy tutoring the most? A: I enjoy tutoring both math and reading the most. I feel these two subjects are the foundation in life and career as they are used in so many aspects of our lives. Q: Can you do it [tutor] in French? A: Unfortunately I can not tutor in French yet....I have Rosetta Stone ready to go as soon as I can afford a computer that works. Q: What's your approach to learning to make it fun and creative? A: I think it is imperative to learn what the students interests are and work with those. If it's reading they are struggling with and they love animals, we will read and do comprehension with animals books. With math, if they like cars, incorporate cars and vehicles into the practice and word problems. When I completed my teaches college a few years ago, I took my grade 6 class outside for math. They used cubes, charts, and themselves to solve math problems, and because they were not sitting at a desk the whole time they seemed to understand better. I am a very firm believer that all students have the ability to learn, but it's the job of their teachers and tutors to find out how they learn best. I travel throughout Durham either tutoring at your home or a local library. Prices:

If you are outside of these areas and would like to set up tutoring we can meet at a library in one of these areas or discuss the possibility of me coming to you. Group tutoring is also available for 2-4 students at $25/h per student. All students must be working on the same topic. SUMMER HOURS
Monday to Thursday 10am - 4pm
Summer tutoring will begin Monday July 3rd and go through to August 24th (8 weeks). If you would like to secure a spot for the entire summer I will require a 2 week, non refundable, deposit.
