💕THE MICHELLE HEBERT JOY OF DANCE SCHOLARSHIP /// Congratulations EMMALISA!

This year, I and our teachers, chose to give this scholarship to Emmalisa, an incredibly hardworking student whose JOY of dance is not lost on myself or her teachers despite her quiet demeanour. Emmalisa is one of the most positive students no matter where she’s at, in class, backstage at performances or out in the community. You won’t find her being self-critical or comparing herself with others, but instead flipping that notion on its head and finding peace and growth in mistakes and feedback. She has wisdom beyond her years to know where she is at in her own dance training journey and then pushes herself and performs beyond what’s asked in class and on stage, growing with each lesson and performance opportunity into a beautiful dancer.

Watching Emmalisa from the audience, you can’t help but see the enjoyment she exudes on that stage. You can tell it’s her happy place for all the right reasons. And for this…for her undeniable joy of movement, performing and dance, she is the recipient of our 3rd annual Michelle Hebert Joy of Dance Scholarship.

DANCE RECITAL /// It’s Time To Perform!

Our Annual Dance Recital takes place May 12-14 at the Massey Theatre.

There will be $15 flower sales onsite as a fundraiser for our next dance trip and entry is a “Give What You Can” donation to our &Bursary so we can continue to help subsidize lessons for deserving students.

What a beautiful week of dance. We started off the week with two days of Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Exams and then rolled right into 4 days of Versastyle Dance Competition. Yes, we are exhausted, but we are also so energized by the dedication and hard work our dancers put forth this week.

There were so many celebratory moments, some lows to overcome and a little bit of everything in between. But, no matter what the examiner or judges decide or where they place you or the score assigned to you, it’s not what defines you as a dancer. It’s the process and progress. It’s your hard work in studio and your heart and love of dance on stage which IS VERY MUCH SEEN by your teachers.

The feedback you took in from the last competition was undoubtedly there in each and every routine. We saw it. We felt it. We love it. Us teachers are all so proud and impressed with each and every ballet exam student and MDC dancer who placed their hours upon hours of work and heart in front of a stranger to perform, gain feedback and grow. You continue to amaze us all 💕
