Empowering little minds, one waffle at a time! ๐ฅ๐๐ฝ๏ธ
Cooking classes aren't just about making food - they're about unlocking a world of possibilities. By measuring, mixing, and baking, our young learners develop essential math skills, explore scientific concepts, and build language skills. They refine their fine motor skills, indulge in sensory exploration, and cultivate independence. Most importantly, they discover the joy of teamwork, confidence, and self-reliance.

Sun, smiles, and a whole lot of movement! โ๏ธ๐
Our Summer Campers brought their boundless energy to Westminster Pier Park!
Staying active during the summer keeps our campers healthy, happy, and helps regulate their emotions so they can focus better when it's time for quiet classroom work.

Say goodbye to "math anxiety"! ๐๐ข
In our classrooms, math is one of the favourite work choices! Why? Because we don't start with abstract ideas. We start with things a child can touch, build, and move.
๐งฎWhen introducing addition or the order of values, our teachers present beautiful materials that invite the children to play. By counting physical objects, building numbers, and tracing textures, children naturally progress to writing numbers on paper with absolute confidence. โ๏ธ
We provide the tools, and the children build the foundational math skills they will use for the rest of their lives. ๐

Mother Nature provides the very best art supplies! ๐ฟ๐ชต๐
Recently at Graham Montessori Summer Camp, our older children went on the field trip and they spent time outdoors hand-picking natural materialsโleaves, twigs, smooth stones, and petalsโto bring back to the classroom.
When children are trusted to lead their own projects:
๐ฑ They observe the world more closely.
๐ฑ They learn to trust their own creative instincts.
๐ฑ They develop deep focus and concentration.
๐ฟThe results? Stunning, nature-inspired 3D art pieces that are as unique as the children who made them.โบ๏ธ๐ฑ๐ฟ

โHow do you let kids paint freely without it turning into total chaos?โ Itโs a question we get a lot!
At Graham Montessori, our art sessions in Daycare, Preschool and Kindergarten classes are the perfect blend of a guided teacher approach and free expression.
๐Step 1: The Guidance. Our teachers thoughtfully introduce new mediumsโshowing the children the proper techniques to respect and use the materials.
๐Step 2: The Freedom. We step back and let their creativity take over!
This Montessori approach to art teaches children independence, respect for their environment, and gives them the confidence to trust their own creative instincts. When they know the boundaries, their creativity truly thrives. ๐

Exploring the magic of early reading with the Montessori Pink Series! ๐ฉท๐งธ
Our little learners are working on matching miniature objects and picture cards to their corresponding three-letter phonetic (CVC) labels.
Why use 3D objects? In Montessori, we use tangible, hands-on items to make abstract concepts concrete. By holding a small object and sounding out its name sound-by-sound (like c-a-n or p-i-g), children naturally bridge the gap between spoken sounds and written words. It turns early reading into a fun, interactive puzzle! โจ๐

When life gives you lemons... make it a learning activity! ๐๐นโ๏ธ
Our Daycare class had a great time running their own lemonade stand to cool off on sunny August day! It looks like just pretend play, but this sweet activity is actually secretly building their early math skills (measuring and counting), fine motor control (squeezing and stirring), and social skills (teamwork and communication).

๐ Our Sumer Camp for school-age children had a fantastic visit to the local New Westmister Fire Hall #1!๐จ
They gave an engaging presentation, shared invaluable fire safety tips, and our children even got to experience of spraing the water from the firetruck.
Big thanks to our local heroes for educating, inspiring, and keeping our community safe.

Using dinosaur themes and play areas in a daycare setting helps children build early science skills, expand their vocabulary, and practice imaginative play. Children learn about history and nature while working together on fun, hands-on prehistoric activities.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming one of our wonderful parents, Larisa, a Public Health Nurse, for a special educational visit at our Kindergarten class/Daycare ๐ฉบ๐
She shared insights about her important profession and taught the children essential habits for growing strong and staying healthy. They had engaging discussions about proper teeth brushing, the importance of physical activity, and why getting enough sleep is crucial for their development.
The highlight of the visit was a hands-on demonstration, as Larisa brought a specialized infant scale to show the children how newborns are weighed and how their early growth is monitored. ๐ถโ๏ธ
A heartfelt thank you to Larisa for volunteering your time to share your knowledge and inspire our little learners! โจ
