Getting Immersive with The New West Symphony!
Students from the Advanced Live Sound class in the ADAUDI program had the opportunity to capture a full multi-mic, ambisonic immersive recording of the full-chair Symphony. They will be able to use the recording later on to mix it in Atmos as an exercise.

About the event:
‘East Meets West’ musical event brought together Iranian folk music and Western classical traditions in a shared performance that made the audience enjoy a unique blend of Eastern and Western sounds,l and music. The concert was led by conductor Jin Zhang, the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra played alongside Iranian singer Sina Sarlak, with music composed by Kambiz Roshanravan.

The last day of class is always special. After 2 years of grinding, it’s finally time for these students to share their talent. Very soon the 2025 cohort of the two-year Music Technology Diploma will graduate and go on on their journey. Not only they have learned and deepen their skills in Mixing, Mastering, Live Sound, Music Production, Recording Engineering, Film and TV Composition, Music Performances, Career development and Communication but they also had to deal with the reality of working as a team, handling schedules and meeting projects deadlines for their Music Technology work.
So come support the hard work of these talented students and check out the projects they will be showcasing on the Portfolio Show on Monday, April 7th, from 2 PM to 5 PM. It will be located at the Concourse of Douglas College, New Westminster Campus.

2nd year student Nick Andreev turned a telephone into a microphone. Pretty awesome! Do you know who was the first engineer to actually hook up a telephone to a mixing console, so that the artist could record their vocals through an actual telephone?
