With school starting very 🔜… Curious to know, did you all see how many RED LIGHT violations were reported within the SSRCE last year?!

That is the number of times a vehicle drove past a school bus with its red lights flashing, approaching from the front or passing from behind.

𝟯𝟮𝟰 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 a student's life was put at risk due to inattentive driving.

Its also 𝟯𝟮𝟰 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 our remarkable bus drivers did everything possible to prevent a dangerous situation from becoming worse. Without their unwavering focus and dedication, the outcome could have been very different.
We cannot thank our drivers enough for the care, professionalism, and responsibility they show every single day.

We also want to extend a 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗖𝗠𝗣 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. Throughout the year, we send many reports their way, and they work tirelessly to help keep our students - and our roads - safe.

We still have 𝟰 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 left this school year.
Let's work together to ensure that number does not increase.

Have your littles come and meet a few bus drivers, practice getting up/down those big steps, and getting bucked/un-buckled! You’ll even get to go on a quick ride around “the block”!!

WNES session will take place at the Northfield firehall.

Next week, our Transportation team will be holding school bus orientation sessions for students in pre-primary, primary and those who have not been transported on one of our school buses before. Families can attend any of these sessions, not just the one at their home school.

NS Lunch Update for next School Year!

Students in every public school will have access to healthy, affordable lunches when the final phase of the Nova Scotia School Lunch Program launches in high schools this September. Lunches will be available in all 372 public schools across the province, offering more than 133,000 students access to nutritious food during the school day.

Most high schools will manage their own operations, giving them the flexibility to meet the needs of older students while supporting the long-term sustainability of the program. Menus for the 2026-27 school year will include new options like chicken caesar wraps, chicken fried rice, ramen-style noodle bowls and salads. Larger portion sizes will also be introduced in high schools.

The program has served more than 12 million meals to students across Nova Scotia since launching in 2024.
