WRITING COURSES FOR KIDS

I offer in‑person small group writing courses in central Nanaimo. Each course runs for 12 weeks and meets once a week.

I am a BC Certified Elementary School Teacher with 25+ years of experience in education. Courses start next week and there are just a few spots remaining.

Story Writing Courses
Location: Central Nanaimo
Dates: Sept. 23 – Dec. 16 (Wednesdays)

Introduction to Story Writing (Grades 3–4)
Time: Wednesdays, 3:30–5:00 pm

Crafting Strong Stories (Grades 5–8)
Time: Wednesdays, 5:15–6:45 pm

In these story writing courses, students learn elements of narrative, including character, setting, conflict, resolution, dialogue, and the use of descriptive language and sensory details to show rather than tell. Through planning, drafting, revising, and sharing, they produce short stories they are proud of.

Paragraph and Writing Skills Courses
Location: Central Nanaimo
Dates: Sept. 24 – Dec. 17 (Thursdays)

Crafting Strong Paragraphs (Grades 5–8)
Time: Thursdays, 3:30–5:00 pm

The Writing Toolkit (Grades 3–4)
Time: Thursdays, 5:15–6:45 pm

These two courses teach students to write clear, well‑organized paragraphs by focusing on strong topic sentences, supporting details, and effective conclusions. They also teach sentence variety, transitions, word choice, punctuation, and how to avoid run‑on sentences.
