Alphabet Playhouse Childcare Centre

Alphabet Playhouse is for children up to age three. It is led by two Early Childhood Educators. They can choose to play independently or with peers.

Alphabet Playhouse Childcare Centre provides a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment so children can reach their full potential. We provide an educational play based program which provides opportunities in all areas of development. We follow a daily schedule of routines and activities throughout the day, but it will be flexible. Children thrive on routine and take comfort in knowing what to

expect during the day. Our daily schedule is carefully designed to promote children's learning and development through a balance of education, fun, and stimulating activities, while tending to their physiological needs. Free Play:

Children can choose between a variety of developmentally appropriate toys and activities. There will always be an educator available to guide and facilitate play. Table top toys (puzzles), shape sorters, beads matching games, etc help children to develop their hand-eye coordination and sequencing skills. Toys will be rotated regularly to promote interest and challenge. Toys and equipment will be cleaned and sanitized daily. Circle Time:

Circle time is a fun and interactive learning experience. We will sing songs, read books and tell interactive felt stories. This helps children to develop their vocabulary and learn skills such as; turn taking, colors, counting and cooperation. We will also dance and play games. We will not force a child to participate or sit; it is their choice. Art:

Painting provides an opportunity for self expression and enjoyment. Art will be available daily. We will create using a variety of mediums. Young children enjoy the sensory experience. Fine motor skills are developed by using tools such as paint brushes, scissors, etc. The fun of creating is more important then the end product. We will also use sensory tables filled with a variety of things, such as: water, sand, rice and other fun things. Play in these areas encourages experimentation in texture and measurement in a fun way. Outside Time:

We will go outside everyday if weather permits. Outside play helps us connect with nature and develop gross motor skills. Please send children in appropriate outside gear and footwear daily. Our Goals:

To encourage and allow opportunities for children to develop their need for independence. To ensure all children are safe and feel secure. To teach children to respect themselves, others, and their environment. To promote language skills by using sign, singing, reading, modeling, and simple language.
