Marine Fire Attack Training is back at the NVDFD Maplewood Fire Training Centre with the Seaspan Emergency Response Team (ERT) for another round of live-fire training.

These sessions provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to realistic fire conditions, with a focus on refining smoke mitigation techniques, reinforcing firefighting fundamentals, and continuing to sharpen the team’s skills.

It’s all about building confidence, strengthening teamwork, and ensuring the team is prepared when it matters most.

Final week wrapped—and the standard never dropped.

With new ERTT platoons rotating through each week, every crew brought their own edge—but the outcome stayed the same: growth, grit, and a serious jump in capability. From day one fundamentals to high-tempo, coordinated ex*****on, it’s been impressive to watch each team lock it in and perform under pressure onboard Seaspan vessels.

This final stretch wasn’t about learning—it was about proving. And every platoon that came through did exactly that.

Now we hand it back to the crews—and we’re looking forward to seeing them again this year as they continue to hone these skills, build on what they’ve started, and take it even further in real-world operations.

Strong finish across the board. This is what it’s all about.

Week two in the books—and the intensity didn’t let up. 💥

ERTT platoons are continuing to build on their foundation, sharpening skills and pushing performance onboard Seaspan vessels in real-world conditions. From coordinated fire attack to advanced ventilation and team-based problem solving, crews are dialing it in and operating with confidence and precision.

It’s one thing to learn it—but another to execute it under pressure. That’s exactly what this week was about.

With all crews fully trained, we're thrilled to resume ERTT platoon training onboard SeaSpan vessels. We're now applying learned skills in realistic environments. Week one was a hit and we're eager to see crews put their knowledge into practice. This type of training is crucial for refining skills and staying prepared for any situation.

Five days. Countless reps. No shortcuts. 🔥

We recently officially wrapped up the final 5-day Seaspan Marine Firefighting Course, and these crews put in the work. From door entry procedures and aggressive hose advancement to fire attack, hydraulic ventilation, and smoke isolation, it was drill after drill building the muscle memory needed when the heat is on.

Huge thanks to the MFAT instructors and the crew at NVDFD Maplewood Fire Training Centre for the support, knowledge, and world-class training environment.

Next stop: semi-annual refresher training aboard the JSS, where these skills get put to work in a real operational setting.

Seaspan Firefighting Training Course, Class 25-03 August 25-29th. The firefighters successfully completed their training.

They can now apply these strategies and tactics to deal with fires on ships, in and out of water, during different stages of construction.
