2026 PACWEST BC (Pacific Western Athletic Association) basketball schedule drop!

We get a big ol' road trip out of the way early, opening the season in Kelowna against the Coyotes on October 24, and open at home with Island Rivalry battles against Camosun at the VIU Gym on November 5!

Notes to know:

*Friday (and Thursday) home games are at 5:30 and 7:30 pm this season (changed from 6 and 8 pm in past years)

*All games are also streamed live on YouTube

2026-27 PACWEST BC (Pacific Western Athletic Association) volleyball schedule drop!

First serve of the season takes place on the road October 23 at CBC and we've got an Island Rivalry home opener against Camosun at the Vancouver Island University Gym on November 6!

Notes to know:

We start our 9-game regular season schedule on the road September 12 at Capilano and follow that up with our MARINER MANIA home opener at Q'unq'inuqwstuxw Stadium on September 19!

Notes to know:

*All home games are at 12:30 pm (women) and 3 pm (men)

*Our Saturday, October 17 game is at Harewood Centennial Park. All other home games are at Q'unq'inuqwstuxw Stadium

*All games are free to attend and are streamed live on YouTube

⚽ Preseason soccer is in full form! Two days after VIU men's soccer earned a 1-0 win over UVic, our women's squad played a friendly scrimmage against the Peninsula College Athletics Pirates (Port Angeles, WA) at Q'unq'inuqwstuxw Stadium. Thanks to the Pirates for traveling north of the border and all the best for your NWAC season! 🇨🇦🇺🇸

Thanks to all of the young athletes who trained alongside and learned from our VIU student-athletes at our 'Mariners in Training' girls and boys youth soccer camps this week!

Next week, we look forward to more great soccer at a second girls soccer camp along with boys basketball camps at the VIU Gym.

Congratulations to Kai Leighton: the fifth year Vancouver Island University men's basketball all-star has been named a 2025-26 CCAA - ACSC Torchbearer Scholarship recipient, presented by FieldTurf!

He's been a top student-athlete with VIU and his work with Special Olympics Basketball Nanaimo and Kw’umut Lelum Child and Family Services demonstrates his leadership and dedication to community. Congratulations again, Kai!
