We know many of you skip the chapter on cesarean births in your prenatal books. We hear how many of you hope to avoid this outcome when we talk with you in prenatal classes. Some of you already know your baby will be born by cesarean birth, and for some of you it will be an outcome that unfolds with your labour. In any scenario, we’re here to do what we do best: provide you the education so you can be prepared to meet your birth and your baby, however birth unfolds. All of our prenatal classes include a full overview of a cesarean birth process- from who’s in the room, to how long it takes, Dad’s role in the room and what it will feel like for Mom. We hear from families all the time that the dialogue we have about cesarean birth resulted in them being prepared, informed, and more confident when their birth happened by cesarean. Join us in one of our classes to learn more.

I don’t know about you, but my feed is full of discussions about postpartum mental health, and how under supported new families are, especially if they’re facing unexpected impacts to their wellbeing that seem incongruent with how new parenthood is commonly portrayed. We know many new parents will be affected by the adjustment to parenthood and its impact on their wellbeing. In our prenatal classes, we spend 1/3 of the course discussing recovery and transition to parenthood - including dialogue about mental health. We have prepared a planning guide for you for your postpartum wellbeing. Much like a birth plan, the idea behind this plan is to contemplate who’s on your support team, what supports you to thrive, and plan for a supported and connected adjustment to new parenthood. Want the guide? Comment here and I’ll send it your way - and please share this post so more people can access this planning guide and our prenatal classes.

Many people sign up for our prenatal classes to prepare for birth, and leave prepared for so much more. Our classes include rich dialogue on new parenthood, life with your baby, the changes you’ll experience, and your wellbeing throughout this time. Becoming a parent is much more than the birth of your baby and we aim to prepare you well.

Each of our prenatal classes includes a practical guide of notes about labour birth and recovery to support you and your birth partner. We ensure you’re well prepared, so you can navigate birth and new parenthood with more confidence and ease. Join us for a prenatal class this fall- we have a few spaces left in September and more in October to December classes.

Our most popular mini-workshop is back this fall! For a little more investment than a box of diapers, you can learn how to use less of them over your baby’s early years. Elimination communication is a practice used around the world to support attunement and responsive approaches to your baby’s needs. Join us to learn more!

Views of today’s prenatal intensive class today- we had a small group of 4 couples overlooking the lake for our full day teaching and learning about birth and new parenthood.

Next prenatal class is May 3.
