We’ve found that athletic types who subscribe to our Trigger Point Therapy method consistently report having less pain, and improved muscular performance.

Many folks do not know that along with possible pain symptoms, TrPs can greatly reduce involved muscle strength.
And it’s important to understand that although “rolling” your trigger points can offer symptomatic relief, it is not Trigger Point therapy.

Athletes (this includes those who apply daily sustained stress to their muscles, such as dancers and musicians) who subscribe to our Trigger Point Therapy method, consistently report having improved muscular performance. This typically manifests in less pain, greater sp*ed, agility, and importantly, greater endurance.

What this means is that not only can comprehensive trigger point therapy effectively treat athlete’s pain issues, it also has the effect of improving athletic performance, even if there is no pain symptom involved.

We see this often – our clients often report that standard exercise and stretch therapy models were ineffective or made symptoms worse.

WHEN TRIGGER POINTS ARE INVOLVED THE TREATMENT RULES CHANGE!

If you'd like to learn more and have some hands-on experience with treating trigger points, we have a weekend workshop scheduled for Vancouver BC this September.

BLADDER ISSUES

🔺Frequent urination
🔺Nocturia (having to p*e more than twice during sleep)
🔺Urgency
🔺Leakage

These are common symptoms that we have successfully treated over the years in both men and women.
Unfortunately, most have had no luck with the medical route
i.e. imaging, cystoscopies and other test procedures.
The symptoms persist or perhaps get worse.

Active trigger points (TrPs) in the abdominal muscles can refer to the bladder, causing spasms to the detrusor muscle and/or the urethral sphincters (voluntary and/or involuntary sphincters).

If the causal TrPs are present, and we inactivate/remove them, the symptoms typically cease.

Contact us if you'd like to know more about these TrPs.
[email protected]

We will also cover these and many more TrP issues during our TRIGGER POINT FUNDAMENTALS WORKSHOP
this September 12th & 13th in 📍Vancouver BC.

Workshop details are on our website

Sharp pain at the p***c bone!
Typically problematic when thigh muscles are placed under physical stress.
This symptom can be caused by TrPs in the adductor muscles of the thigh.
Athletic activities such as tennis, football (soccer), skating, gymnastics and dance, and other activities that require sudden changes in thigh movement, can be causal to TrPs forming in these muscles.

🔵Yes, we have successfully treated this condition by employing comprehensive trigger point methods.

Below is an excerpt from Travell & Simons' Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction The Trigger Point Manual

"Mechanical Overload
Three conditions associated with chronic overload of the adductor muscles are p***c stress symphysitis (OSTEITIS P***S), p***c stress fracture (avulsion stress fracture of the p***c bone), and adductor insertion avulsion syndrome.
P***c Stress Symphysitis - p***c stress symphysitis (osteitis p***s) of athletes must be distinguished from adductor tendon avulsion at the pelvis, from fractures of the p***c or ischial rami, and from local septic conditions. P***c stress symphysitis usually has an insidious onset with acute exacerbation during stressful sports activity. Examination reveals focal tenderness of the p***c symphysis bilaterally and pain on abduction and extension of the thighs. Symphysitis sometimes is accompanied by adductor TrPs. In this situation, abduction and extension are more restricted on the side of the TrPs. The most anterior adductors, the pectineus and the adductor longus, are the most likely to be involved. This is understandable because these two adductor muscles have the most effective leverage for putting asymmetrical stress on the p***c symphysis."

If you'd like to know more about osteitis p***s, feel free to contact us.

Thanks for your time.

Cipro is the brand name for ciprofloxacin, which is an antibiotic in the fluoroquinolone class. It’s used to treat a variety of bacterial infections by stopping the bacteria from reproducing and repairing their DNA.

🔹 Common Uses
Cipro is often prescribed for:
* Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
* Respiratory infections (like bronchitis, pneumonia)
* Skin and soft tissue infections
* Gastrointestinal infections (like traveler’s diarrhea)
* Bone and joint infections
* Certain sexually transmitted infections

Cipro has some serious potential side effects, so it’s usually not a first choice unless necessary:
* Tendon rupture or inflammation (especially in older adults or those on steroids)
* Nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy)
* Central nervous system effects (confusion, agitation, hallucinations, seizures)
* QT prolongation (heart rhythm issue)
* Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea)
*** It also carries a Health Canada and FDA BLACK BOX WARNING for the tendon, nerve, and CNS risks.

⚠️ INCREASED RISK IN EHLERS-DANLOS SYNDROME
Fluoroquinolones (like ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin) are known to:
* Weaken connective tissue — they interfere with collagen synthesis and repair.
* Cause tendon inflammation and rupture (especially the Achilles tendon).
* Possibly increase the risk of aortic aneurysm or dissection — especially in people with connective tissue disorders like EDS, Marfan syndrome, or vascular disease.

Since EHLERS-DANLOS SYNDROME already involves fragile connective tissue, the combination can be dangerous — it can worsen joint instability, tendon pain, or vascular fragility.

I’m still impressed with how far people will travel to receive WHM trigger point instruction/mentoring.

Next week we’ll have a Pilates/Yoga instructor (and Trigger Point dabbler) here, from France, for a 4-day, one/one workshop.
We have a variety of table models lined up for her to experience real-life TPT sessions that will include comprehensive intake and the all-important perpetuating factors!

Hopefully she will return home with new skills, and her workshop expectations exceeded.

C’est bon!

MOVING BEYOND DABBLING:
THE CASE FOR COMPREHENSIVE TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

In clinical practice, trigger point therapy is often used superficially—applied as a technique rather than integrated as a system of assessment and treatment. This “dabbling” approach typically involves brief manual intervention on obvious taut bands or symptomatic areas, without a structured evaluation of causal chains, referral patterns, or perpetuating factors. While short-term symptom relief is common, these isolated interventions frequently fail to address the complexity of chronic myofascial dysfunction, leading to temporary outcomes or misattribution of unresolved pain.

A comprehensive approach, by contrast, is methodical and diagnostic. It recognizes trigger points not as isolated anomalies, but as manifestations of systemic imbalance, biomechanical overload, neuromuscular inhibition, or psychosomatic stress. This model involves full-body palpation strategies, movement assessment, detailed pain histories, and a nuanced understanding of referral maps and central sensitization. Crucially, it considers perpetuating factors—ranging from postural habits and ergonomic stressors to nutritional deficiencies, poor sleep habits, and emotional holding patterns. True trigger point therapy is not just a tool—it’s a clinical lens. Practiced comprehensively, it moves us beyond symptomatic care into functional restoration and long-term resolution.

When practiced comprehensively, trigger point therapy becomes a foundational framework rather than a standalone technique.
By educating patients/clients on the nature of referred pain, load management, and lifestyle contributors, we empower them to become active participants in their recovery. This collaborative process not only improves outcomes but also fosters patient trust and adherence. When presented with complex chronic pain presentations, a deep, system-based approach to trigger point therapy is not just more effective—it’s NECESSARY.
It demands clinical curiosity, critical thinking, and a commitment to going beyond symptomatic treatment to achieve sustainable, functional change.
