Coming Home to Heal
Addiction Specialist through an
Indigenous Trauma lens
05/03/2024
02/28/2024
Our next group will be about how to keep ourselves safe. If we have not learned how to do that we do not safe. If we do not feel safe, we will often feel angry, as our physiology is activated. Our Anger becomes evident when our boundaries and expectations are shattered. We need boundaries to keep us safe, happy and confident.
โBoundaries are a life enhancing system of โyesโโ and โnoโs.โ They are stop signs and borders you install to protect yourself so that it is clear that you own your life, make good choices, and pursue the authentic expression of who you are in the way you live, love, give and relate.โ
โBoundaries are a limit you set between yourself and people due to thoughts, activities and things that arenโt in your best interestโ (Source: Black, J. & Enns, G. (1997) Better Boundaries: Owning and Treasuring Your Life. Oakland, CA. Raincoast Books)

Facebook has been "helping" again.
What do I mean? They just changed the Notifications for group members again. They have automatically switched members of most groups to receive โ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐๐โ instead of โ๐๐น๐น ๐ฃ๐ผ๐๐๐โ. This means that you will only see about one in ten posts on any group you are in (even if youโve updated this in the past). To change this setting, you have to go to the group page--for every group youโre in--and do the following:
1. Click the 3 dots on the top right of the ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐จ๐ฃ ๐๐ข๐ ๐ page "..." or if on a mobile device click on the dots at the top right of your screen
They did it to me in some other groups.
Attachment also directly affects the โexperiencedependent maturationโ of the infant brain, most particularly the right orbital prefrontal cortex
โขIn the words of Allan Schore, โThe early social
environment, mediated by the primary caregiver,
directly influences the final wiring of the circuits
in the infant brain that are responsible for the
future social and emotional coping capacities of
the individual.โ
zoom counselling will soon be available..keep your eyes peeled...
