Our big Jelly Bean is going for a new record this year! 💛📚

Jade has set herself a goal of selling 13 Community Values Books!

Each book is $40 and includes over $6,000 in savings from local restaurants, retailers, services, and businesses — such a great way to support local while saving throughout the year.

A little recap of our summer 😍☀️

This summer flew by faster than we could have imagined! We didn’t post very much along the way because we were far too busy making memories — so here’s a little look back at some of the special moments that filled our summer. 💛

From water days and summer camps to gardening, harvesting, birthdays, daycare space updates, and kindergarten send-offs, our days were filled with adventure, learning, laughter, and so many memories.

Many of our littles also spent time camping with their families, exploring beaches, and travelling to special places throughout beautiful British Columbia. We absolutely loved welcoming them back and hearing all about the adventures and memories they made with their families. 🏕️🌊

🌱 Our garden was extra special this year!
Our greenhouse flourished, and our littles did an incredible job helping us care for and harvest everything we grew. This was also our first year opening our community garden, where the children planted their own seeds, cared for them as they sprouted, and then took their seedlings home to continue growing with their families. Watching them proudly grow their own plants and vegetables at home was so inspiring!

🎂 We had lots to celebrate, including many summer birthdays and a very special end-of-summer graduation celebration for two of our littles who headed off to kindergarten this September. Watching children grow, learn, and eventually move on to their next adventure is always such a bittersweet part of what we do. 🎓💛

We also welcomed some wonderful new friends into our childcare family, who are settling in beautifully, along with two new furry friends — Zuse & Zuri! 🐾

As we officially say goodbye to summer and welcome a new season, we want to say a special thank you to all of our families who helped make this summer so memorable. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your children’s days, their milestones, their learning, and all the little moments in between.

What a beautiful summer it was. ☀️🌻 Here’s to all the memories we made together!

**🌿 Riverside Family Childcare – Monday & Friday Space Available Starting September! 🌿**

Riverside Family Childcare has a **Monday & Friday space available starting in September** for a child **36 months and older**, with the opportunity to add additional days in the future as they become available.

We are a **licensed family childcare facility** located in the **Extension/Cinnabar area of Nanaimo**. Our program offers a warm, nurturing, and nature-inspired environment where children learn through exploration, play, and hands-on experiences.

**What we offer:**

* 🌳 A large outdoor play space
* ☀️ A covered outdoor play area for all-weather fun
* 📚 A dedicated learning space separate from our primary living area
* 🌱 A nature-based, seasonal curriculum with plenty of outdoor adventures
* 🪴 Greenhouse gardening and hands-on learning experiences
* 🐓 Daily interactions with our friendly animals, including cats, dogs, chickens, and turkeys

We are open **Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM** and are staffed by both an **Early Childhood Educator (ECE)** and an **Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA)**, allowing us to maintain an excellent **2:7 educator-to-child ratio**.

Riverside Family Childcare participates in the **Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI)** and welcomes families receiving **Affordable Child Care Benefit** or other approved childcare funding.

We also offer an **after-school care program for children attending Chase River Elementary School**, making this an ideal space for a child who will be starting kindergarten in the coming years and may benefit from a smooth transition into our school-age program.
