A huge congratulations to our Mînî Thnî Cross Country team! We went to the league championships in Calgary last night and all of our runners made MASSIVE improvements compared to our previous meet. That’s a wrap for our grade 7-9 runners, but our grades 4-6 still have one more meet. We are very proud of all these runners who have been working so hard at practices and who put on a strong performance yesterday! 🏃🏽🏃🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️

Today, Grade 5.1 and 5.2 took their learning into our forest classroom! We began in our gathering circle listening to Stolen Words by Melanie Florence, exploring themes of language loss, residential school impacts, and cultural resilience. Afterwards, students explored the forest floor to collect natural elements like twigs, moss, bark, and stones. In groups, students used their natural materials to build art pieces that represent how their culture and language are still strong and not lost.

Through this activity, our 5th graders reflected on how Indigenous languages and cultures remain deeply connected to the land and celebrated how roots grow back strong. We are so proud of their thoughtful discussion, respect for their culture, and amazing creativity!
