The CPKC Holiday Train rolls into Moose Jaw on Saturday, December 20, bringing festive lights, live music, and support for a great cause.

Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to bring a cash or non-perishable food donation in support of the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank. Volunteers will be on site to collect donations at the marked booth.

Every holiday season has its own kind of magic…
But this year, we’re bringing a little farm magic right into the Christmas Tree Lot at Dutch Growers Regina.

On December 13, 20 & 21, our friends at Fenek Farms are joining us with some very special guests: alpacas with big personalities, gentle donkeys, a curious mini horse, cheerful chickens, and the sweetest little calf

Come wander through the trees, sip something warm, and let the animals make your holiday memories just a little more unforgettable.

Admission is by donation in support of STARS Air Ambulance—a cause close to many hearts.

And for everyone’s safety, please remember: no pets near the animals.

We can’t wait to share this holiday moment with you.

Montessori believed children write before they read, move before they sit, and choose before they obey. Her insights still challenge how we structure learning today.

Through careful observation of children, Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that children are not empty vessels waiting to be filled, but as active, capable learners with an inner drive to grow and learn. 🌱

In the early 1900s, education was adult-driven: Teachers lectured, children memorized, and obedience was the goal. Classrooms were silent, desks were fixed, and learning was passive. Adults assumed children needed control, correction, and uniformity.

But what do children really need? Freedom to move. Time to explore. Materials that match their developmental stage. Respect for their pace and voice.

🌍 Montessori changed the narrative. She observed children deeply—not to manage them, but to understand them. She saw how they flourished when given purposeful work, choice, and environments scaled to their size and interests.

✨ Montessori: Children trace sandpaper letters with their fingers, linking sound, shape, and movement.

Many school systems today still follow the old model: Standardized testing, rigid schedules, and adult-led instruction dominate. Children are grouped by age, not readiness. External rewards replace intrinsic motivation.
