So the first picture was taken before I decided to do 36 sun salutations every day for 14 days, and the second one was taken about a couple weeks afterwards.

I don’t usually think about my posture when taking these pictures, but you can see a very big difference in where my shoulder naturally lays 🙀 I’m also standing a lot taller

My posture and upper body strength was the biggest difference I noticed when doing sun sals every day. I didn’t even notice until I seen these pictures side by side.

There are also other factors to this - I’ve been implementing more healthy lifestyle choices lately such as going to the gym about 3x a week. But I think I have to give credit to the sun sals for the improvement in my posture.

Love it! Just wanted to share 🥰🫶🏽

This was a small challenge I did in early February to see what benefits and differences that doing 36 sun salutations would have on my body, mind and breath.

The biggest differences I noticed:
- more space in my hamstrings, less tension, more strength
- stamina increased. I was able to finish the sequences feeling less tired every time
- more strength in my shoulders and chest
- posture has greatly improved
- my breathing has more depth and quality
- increased energy and vitality after completing the workout
- better and deeper sleep

There are so many benefits to doing sun salutations! This sequence is foundational for yoga. It not only stretches your muscles but increases strength. The discipline I cultivated doing this small challenge is also a huge benefit.

Advanced yoga is often mistaken for extreme range, complex transitions, or inverted control.

Those are physical skills.
They reflect mobility and strength.

But long-term practice reveals something deeper.

Advanced work is the ability to regulate breath under load.
To maintain nervous system stability during intensity.
To sustain attention without distraction.
To remain disciplined without external validation.

Postures challenge the body.
Breath trains regulation.
Awareness trains response.

Progress is not defined by how far you move.
It is defined by how well you regulate.

That is advanced practice.

Sun salutations, or Surya Namaskar, are a set of yoga poses used as a warm up for Ashtanga Yoga. This sequence is a great exercise and also promotes a meditative state through its breath to movement flow🫁✨

I’d recommend to start w 3-5 rounds and work your way up every single day!

You’ll notice your strength and flexibility increasing, the quality and depth of your breath will improve, and your overall health and well being will feel so good 😌🫶🏽

A lot of people will start a yoga asana practice for the physical benefits🧘🏽‍♀️✨

The very first physical benefit I noticed when I started doing yoga was my posture. It started to feel so natural to be able to stand tall! (And for me thats a lot lol iykyk)

After that my flexibility started to improve and I was able to touch my toes without bending my legs lol. This took some time though and patience is key 😌

I used small milestones like that to track my progress and see where else I wanted to focus on physically. There are so many more physical benefits to a yoga asana practice than what I’ve listed here. It’s all about your intention and what you want your practice to look like 🤍💪

Wellness and nervous system regulation can absolutely be fancy— biohacking gadgets like vagal nerve stimulators, peptides, supplements. And hey, I love them too; I’ve seen them work wonders for people chasing peak performance. But the truth is, I recommend these free nervous system regulators to my telehealth patients just as often—like solid sleep routines, gentle walks in nature, or even breathing through a tough day without spiraling.

Those aren’t glamorous, but they’re essential game-changers for keeping your nervous system regulated and calm. Sometimes, chasing the perfect protocol or the next thing to buy or consume or try means missing out on just being consistent with the simple stuff that’s already right there. Consistency is the ultimate biohack.
