In 1999 Lee Shulman published a paper entitled "Taking learning seriously" in which he approached the "epidemiology of misleading" or the so called "taxonomy of pedago-pathology". He then indicated three pathologies that lead us to either forget what we learn, don't understand that we misunderstood or being unable to apply what we learn. He dubbed these conditions as amnesia, fantasia or inertia respectively. Almost 20 years later, the three pathologies linger among students despite some efforts towards improving learning in different contexts of education. We invite you to read this paper and to join us on a reflection about the reasons behind the scenario showed and potential alternatives to "heal" learners and educators.
