What many TEFL and TESOL programs don’t tell you is this: learning teaching theories alone does not make you a teacher.

You can study communicative language teaching, classroom management, lesson planning, pronunciation pedagogy, and second language acquisition theories for months, but if you have never stood in front of real students, adapted to unexpected classroom situations, handled mixed-level classrooms, managed learner anxiety, responded to difficult questions on the spot, or received professional feedback on your teaching, you are not fully prepared for the realities of teaching.

And employers know this. One of the first things many employers look for during interviews is actual classroom experience. They want to know whether you have really taught students, managed classroom dynamics, applied teaching methods in practice, and learned how to react in real-time situations that no textbook can truly prepare you for.

At Languistic.ca, we believe teacher training must go beyond abstract theory. That is why our program is proud to be the only TEFL program in Quebec offering a real practicum experience where trainees not only learn modern teaching methodologies, but also apply them in actual classrooms and receive continuous professional feedback.

Thanks to our official affiliation with Concordia University, our program stays aligned with the latest research and evidence-based methodologies in language education. Trainees are guided by Hamid Khademi, Concordia University researcher, and Alex Lamont, experienced CEGEP instructor, combining academic expertise with practical classroom realities.

We truly believe that every teacher’s journey is one of gradual development. In our TEFL program and practicum at Languistic Training Centre, trainees begin with support and guidance, often relying on experienced trainers like Alex, who brings years of teaching experience around the world and at CEGEPs in Quebec.

Little by little, through mentorship, observation, practice, and feedback, our trainees become more autonomous, develop a stronger teaching identity, and gain confidence in the classroom. The goal is not perfection from day one, but gradual growth toward becoming independent and effective language teachers.

By the time they graduate from the program and practicum, we are proud to see confident, capable, and effective educators ready for real classrooms.

Congratulations to Ashanti on successfully completing her TEFL training and practicum at Languistic!

Ashanti proved herself to be a fast learner who quickly adapted to different classroom environments. Throughout her practicum, she demonstrated excellent teaching potential and built strong connections with both adult and young learners.

One of her notable strengths was her ability to apply effective classroom management strategies in children’s classes, creating an engaging and well-structured learning atmosphere. She also successfully incorporated gamification techniques into her lessons, making learning more interactive and motivating for students.

Over the course of the program, Ashanti showed significant growth not only in her linguistic knowledge, but also in her professional teaching skills and classroom confidence.
