“Be confident” is the most useless advice in hockey.

Confidence isn’t something you decide to have. It’s something that emerges when you stop fighting what’s happening inside you.

One of the hardest things about watching your child struggle is feeling like you should be able to fix it.

You can’t always fix it. But you can be there in a way that makes them feel safe enough to figure it out themselves.

The moment that changed everything wasn’t a win. It wasn’t a great game or a big contract.

It was a fractured jaw. And the relief I felt when I found out I couldn’t play.

That relief told me something I hadn’t been willing to hear.
