InfoNexus is coming up! The next speaker we'd like to introduce is Maïa Djambazian, the Museum Project Manager at Umanium.

Through her past projects and professional experiences, she has developed a particular interest in the different operations through which space and architecture are able to facilitate the communication of ideas and knowledge.

Our next speaker is Olivier Charbonneau, an Associate Librarian at Concordia University. He is primarily interested in copyright issues as well as questions of open access and Web 2.0. He has over 15 years of professional involvement in library and cultural communities. He holds two masters degrees from Université de Montréal, one in information sciences and another in law, as well as an undergraduate degree in commerce from McGill University.

Our next Info-Nexus speaker is Stephanie Lemieux, the President and principal consultant at Dovecot Studios.

Stephanie has been working in the information management industry for nearly a decade. Prior to focusing her energies on Dovecot Studio, she was a senior consultant and taxonomy practice lead with Earley & Associates where she worked with such organizations as Best Buy, AstraZeneca, American Greetings and Motorola. Stephanie has a Masters degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from McGill University with a specialization in knowledge management.

Our next speaker is AJ West, a Montreal programmer working on automation, optimization and machine learning. He graduated from McGill's School of Information Studies in 2014 and has a passion for federal politics, the digital borderless currency Bitcoin, and the “Internet of Things”. On weekends AJ makes room-scale interactive Virtual Reality games, participates in open source development projects, and manages a political archive called Canadian Stenographer.

As a career contractor, AJ has a diverse background working on everything from satellite connectivity systems to his current role at Boeing where he automates complex airline scheduling processes.

The next speaker we would like to introduce is Emily Kingsland, a Liaison Librarian at McGill University. Her subject areas are psychology, educational and counselling psychology, and religious studies. Prior to joining McGill, she was a librarian at the University of Ottawa, where she responsible for feminist and gender studies, social work, and classics. She holds a BA in history and political science and an MLIS from McGill.

As a recent grad, she will talk about how to apply the skills learned at McGill to get interviews and land jobs.

Don’t forget that Info-Nexus is Friday, February 3rd! Over the next few days you can get to know our speakers a bit better.

First is Matthew Bouchard, the Executive Director of the Yellow Door, an organization which promotes social inclusion through community and creative projects. In this role, he has worked on everything from HR and strategic planning, to repairing toilets.

After many failures in the job hunt, he is more than happy to share his lessons learned to soon-to-be graduates. He is a 2014 McGill School of Information Studies graduate who has been working in the non-profit sector for the past three years. During his degree, he studied under Professor Kim Dalkir, and completed independent research on Knowledge Sharing in Law Enforcement

Anton Stiglic will also be with us on February 5th:

Anton Stiglic has over 15 years of industry experience in the field of information security and risk management. He has worked with startups, consultancy firms as well as several large organisations, notably in the financial sector. He has held positions as security consultant and manager and different levels. Anton Stiglic is presently Corporate Director of Information Security at Loto-Québec. M. Stiglic is recognized as a dynamic leader that proposes pragmatic solutions to risk issues, based on his expertise in IT and comprehension of business issues. M. Stiglic holds an MSc in computational theory from the Université de Montréal, as well as an MBA from Université de Sherbrooke. He is part of the Canadian Standards Council’s IT security techniques working group.

Some info on another one of our speakers!:

Lori Podolsky is a graduate to the University of Manitoba Archival Studies programme in History. She has worked with the International Development Research Centre and the Government of Ethiopia in the areas of digital preservation and metadata standards, respectively. In addition, Lori was the digital archivist at the Provincial Archives of Alberta and the Senior Records Office for the Alberta Research Council prior to coming to McGill University. Currently, she is the acting University Archivist and is involved in numerous projects, such as historical weather data crowdsourcing and in improving the discoverability of archival fonds held in the McGill University Archives.

Happy holidays, everyone! Just a quick post to introduce one of our speakers for InfoNexus 2016:

Kathleen Botter is a Systems Librarian at Concordia University Libraries. She has an undergraduate degree in computer science from McGill University. After receiving her MLIS from Western University in 2006, Kathleen worked as a Web Services Librarian in the United Arab Emirates before moving home to Montreal in 2012 to work at Concordia University. Her research interest include usability, systems integration, discovery, reference rot, and standard identifiers such as ORCID and ISNI.
