PERSONALIZED MONOLOGUE WORK:
Want a personalized monologue, for an audition piece or a mini-performance? Carolyn offers help with the writing and creation of individualized work, designed to bring out your greatest assets as a performer.

BOUFFON LAB: CLOWNING, COLLECTIVE PLAY AND MOCKERY WITH STEVE DAY:
Saturdays from 1-5 pm
Feb 8-March 1 (4 weeks)
PWYC, suggested $100-$160 or $30-$50 per drop-in class (at teacher’s discretion).
(Payment by instalments is possible)
Registration required. Twelve students maximum.
A weekly course of embodied group play in a satyrical form of clowning called Bouffon. Unique to bouffon and clown work, this course will be taught mostly through chorus work and play in pairs and groups of people. It can also be used individually to devise solo material.
If there is interest, a second course will be offered in March.

ACTING WITH CAROLYN GUILLET: Fridays from 3-6pm (4 weeks)
Feb 7-28
Cost: $20 or sliding scale*
Registration required. Drop-ins accepted. Ten students maximum.
Description: One hour warm-up with games and improv, followed by monologue and scene work. Bring your own material. If you prefer, Carolyn can assign something.
*Carolyn will consider any form of barter or exchange in lieu of cash payment.

BASICS OF I CHING DIVINATION with STEVE DAY
Four opportunities with 4 students per week (registration required)
Feb 9 and 16, March 2 and 16: 4-7:30pm.
Cost: PWYC suggested $50-$100. Open to barter and exchange, or payment by instalments :)
The I Ching or Yi Jing is a 3000 year-old book of divination, long in use in China, Japan, and Korea, before gaining popularity in the west in the 20th century through the Wilhelm/Baynes translation, foreworded by Carl Jung.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to ‘Uncle Yi’ through theory and exercises, and ultimately through casting a reading of your own.
You’ll leave the workshop with a copy of the I Ching, able to shape you own questions and interface with the oracle and its rich imagery.
Support with your readings, and integration into your life, will be available after the course, if needed.

COACHING SESSIONS WITH CAROLYN GUILLET:
Wednesdays from 3-6pm (4 weeks)
Cost: $20/hour or sliding scale*
Description: Bring me your creative project. Let’s look at it together, see how we can move it forward. Or bring in an audition piece you are preparing.** We’ll work on it together. **

IMPROV WITH ADALIA PEMBERTON SMITH:
Tuesdays from 7-9pm, with one hour of homework
Dates: February 4-25 (4 weeks)
Cost: Sliding scale $80 / $120 / $160 Description: Embodied voice and emotional body: experimental improvisation practice exploring the relationship between sound and movement. Using site specific creation practices, clown, somatics, butoh, and theatre improvisation, we will repeatedly invite our inner strangers (the collective unconscious) and our ancestors/guides. We will play, philosophize and compose unprecious works in a caring and curious environment. Please sign up for the whole series, drop-ins will be permitted on a case by case basis. If there is interest, a collective performance/presentation will be organized in March.

Un cours hebdomadaire de jeu de groupe incarné dans une forme satyrique de clown appelée Bouffon. Unique au bouffon et au travail de clown, ce cours sera enseigné principalement à travers le travail de chœur et le jeu en paires et en groupes de personnes. Il peut également être utilisé individuellement pour créer des solos.
S'il y a de l'intérêt, un deuxième cours sera offert en mars.

JEU D'ACTEUR AVEC CAROLYN GUILLET : Les vendredis de 15h à 18h (4 semaines)

Coût : 20 $ ou échelle mobile*
Inscription obligatoire. Les inscriptions spontanées sont acceptées. Dix étudiants au maximum.
Description : Une heure d'échauffement avec des jeux et de l'improvisation, suivie d'un monologue et d'une scène. Apportez votre propre matériel. Si vous préférez, Carolyn peut vous donner quelque chose.
*Carolyn acceptera toute forme de troc ou d'échange au lieu d'un paiement en espèces.

IMPROVISATION AVEC ADALIA PEMBERTON SMITH :
Les mardis de 19h à 21h, avec une heure de travail à la maison.
Dates : 4-25 février (4 semaines)
Coût : échelle mobile 80 $ / 120 $ / 160 $ Description : Voix incarnée et corps émotionnel : pratique d'improvisation expérimentale explorant la relation entre le son et le mouvement. En utilisant des pratiques de création spécifiques au site, le clown, la somatique, le butoh et l'improvisation théâtrale, nous inviterons à plusieurs reprises nos étrangers intérieurs (l'inconscient collectif) et nos ancêtres/guides. Nous jouerons, philosopherons et composerons des œuvres peu précieuses dans un environnement bienveillant et curieux. Veuillez vous inscrire pour l'ensemble de la série, les inscriptions seront autorisées au cas par cas. S'il y a de l'intérêt, une performance/présentation collective sera organisée en mars.

A new initiative organized by Steve Day (playwright, diviner, clown) and Carolyn Guillet (playwright, theatremaker, director, teacher. We’re calling it the WELL / le PUITS a POP-UP ART SPACE !!!!!

Offered By US: WORKSHOPS! Acting! Clown! Bouffon! Improv! Scene Study! Monologue writing! Audition prepping! Weird theatre s**t, solo and group! Play readings! Creativity workshops! Divination sessions!

YOU: Come work, play, learn, teach in an affordable, conveniently-located studio space, available only briefly, from February 1 to June 30.

The SPACE: After a couple of decades of gentle artistic cradlings, we’re getting evicted, so our art space at Mont-Royal and De La Roche will be turnd into a hot li’l piece o’ bougie real estate ass-ripe for the pickings.

Let’s take advantage before this happens!

BECAUSE we NEED each other. We need connection, and occasions to unplug from our phones. We need to PLUNGE into nourishing, creative work like plunging into… well… a WELL! un PUITS, a POP-UP ART SPACE !!!!!
