Started in 2003 in North Carolina, Nourish International now has 45 chapters on university campuses throughout the US. Growing each year, the McGill Students Chapter of Nouri
sh International is the first Canadian chapter! We are a student-led movement, working to make a lasting impact on a variety of social and environmental issues both at home, and in partnership with international communities with whom we have a close connection and working relationship. Through our model we make a socially sustainable impact through Projects, Ventures, and Partnerships, which we use to educate, raise resources, and overall provide support for a variety of social and environmental causes that our team is passionate about. What are Projects and Ventures and Partnerships? Ventures are on-campus businesses that are run by the chapter, in order to raise awareness and earn money for our projects. Our Ventures consider the impact of business on People, Planet, and Profit. Our Ventures respect the health, safety, and prosperity of all producers, vendors, volunteers and consumers, and the greater community. They also steward the environment, making sure all products are sourced, consumed, and disposed in a way that reflects sustainable environmental practices. Lastly, our Ventures create a viable business that sustainably produces profit. We create Partnerships with communities and organizations that are pursuing work which we feel closely aligns to our values. These community based (grassroots) organizations may lack the necessary funds and resources to initiate and support a sustainability project, but have the vision, knowledge, and close community connections to ensure that it will be impactful.
