COLAB ANNUAL SHOWCASE - Last Friday, May 1st, the Trafalgar-McGill CoLab held its annual showcase at the McGill Education Building. The room was bustling with conversations about educational research, partnerships, and collaboration. Topics included seven completed research projects, two ongoing studies, and two upcoming initiatives.

MON MONTREAL - RUE ST-LAURENT - Dans le cadre du cours « Mon Montréal », nos élèves de 3e secondaire et leurs enseignantes ont relevé un bon défi: traverser la ville du sud au «nord» en un seul après-midi! Du dynamisme du Quartier chinois aux entreprises de multimédia nichées dans l’ancien quartier juif (autrefois cœur de l'industrie textile), en passant par les couleurs du quartier portugais jusqu'aux arômes de la Petite Italie, le groupe a porté un regard neuf sur cette ligne imaginaire qui scinde Montréal entre l'Est et l'Ouest.

HOUSE REVEAL! - This week, our incoming Sec. I students were officially welcomed at Tea on Traf, a spirited kickoff to their journey with us! The event was full of energy as students discovered their house placements and connected with their new peers.

HALO ROAD RACE - The Halo Road Race took place on Wednesday this week. Despite rainy conditions, seven athletes represented Traf at the race. Congratulations to our runners who placed 2nd and 5th overall!

That’s a wrap on another successful Senior School play! 🎭

Our students, led by the exceptional Ms. Violini, delivered three incredible performances of Anne of Green Gables. Months of dedicated rehearsals and hard work truly paid off as the entire Traf community was swept up in this beloved Canadian classic.

Bravo to the cast and crew for bringing the spirit of Avonlea to our stage! 👏

PREFECT TEAM 2026-2027 - During Wednesday’s assembly, the current Sec. V prefects welcomed next year’s prefect team to their positions by giving them a bracelet and an invitation to this year’s legacy dinner. Congratulations to all of the Sec. IV students who came forward with courage and resilience to participate as candidates in the election process.

BATAILLE DES LIVRES - Des élèves de sept écoles se sont réunis pour célébrer la littérature dans le cadre de la Bataille des livres QAIS 2026, tenue à la bibliothèque de Trafalgar. Chaque équipe devait lire dix romans, en plus de leur charge de travail scolaire habituelle. Les équipes ont ensuite été mises à l’épreuve avec des questions dans un format de jeu inspiré de Jeopardy. À une époque où l’on parle de crise de la lecture, les élèves de Trafalgar démontrent que le plaisir de lire et la valeur de l’écrit sont plus importants que jamais.

JOURNÉE DU CHANDAIL DES HABS - Mercredi, les élèves ont porté un chandail, un t-shirt ou une casquette des Canadiens pour encourager notre équipe en vue du match 5!

CPR TRAINING - Our Sec. III students spent the day completing their CPR certification course. It was a great opportunity to gain practical, life-saving skills and the confidence to act in an emergency. Well done, Sec. III!
QAIS SPEAK-OFF FINAL - On Thursday, our Sec. II and Sec. V representatives competed in the QAIS Public Speaking finals. Both students represented Trafalgar brilliantly. Congratulations to our Sec. II participant for placing 2nd in the junior division.

CoLab Germs - The grade 7 science class visited a microbiology lab last Thursday as a part of their inquiry project. Once at the lab, students prepared slides from the samples they collected and observed them under the microscope. They discovered that there are a variety of microscopic organisms living on everyday surfaces, and were reminded of the importance of washing their hands!

Author Visit - The critically acclaimed author of the bestselling Reading Lo**ta In Tehran, Azar Nafisi, came to speak with the Sec. V and Sec. II students about writing, the power of words to promote change, and her experiences in Iran when she started a secret book club to encourage her female students to continue reading Western literature after the revolution in Iran. Students and staff were moved by her openness and dedication to what she believes in. We will remember her advice: everything is possible if we approach life with empathy and curiosity.

Band Performance - Vendredi dernier, le Trafalgar Senior Band s’est produit au tout premier BandFest 2026 de l’Association des harmonies du Québec (QBA), qui avait lieu à la Laval Senior Academy. L’ensemble a livré une magnifique prestation, obtenant une cote excellente, décrite par la QBA comme «une performance exceptionnelle comportant de nombreux aspects remarquables, qui témoigne d’une préparation minutieuse et d’une grande compréhension musicale».

Earth Day Activity - On Wednesday in advisory, students built bird feeders out of recycled materials. The students learned in assembly about upcycling and when in the year to place their bird feeders outside before completing the activity. Bird feeders were sent home with students and can be filled with seed in the winter and early spring.

Today we showcase the remaining four alumnae joining us tomorrow for Career Day! Swipe to meet a criminal defense attorney, a policy analyst, a VP in finance, and a visual effects artist.

We just wrapped up Women of the World week, where every day was dedicated to a different theme of the WOMAN acrostic. From Women in War and Olympic legends to those navigating a Man’s world, trailblazers in Art, and the "Naughty" women who dared to push boundaries. Our students explored the grit and greatness of those who paved the way.
It was a powerful reminder that history is full of women who refused to stay in the lines!

Nous venons de conclure la semaine Femmes du monde, où chaque journée était rythmée par l'acrostiche WOMAN. De la place des femmes dans la guerre (War) et aux Jeux Olympiques, jusqu'à celles qui s'imposent dans un monde d'hommes (Man’s world), les pionnières en Art et les femmes « Naughty » qui ont osé bousculer les conventions - nos élèves ont découvert la force et le courage de celles qui ont tracé la voie.
Un rappel puissant que l'histoire appartient à celles qui refusent de rester dans les rangs !

On Friday, April 10th, Trafalgar welcomes back its alumni for our annual Career Day.

This year's event opens with a keynote from Tasha Lackman, President and CEO of Centraide of Greater Montréal, a Trafalgar alumna whose career is a testament to where a Trafalgar education can take you.

Le vendredi 10 avril, Trafalgar accueille à nouveau ses anciens élèves à l'occasion de notre journée des carrières annuelle.

Cette année, l'évènement s'ouvrira par un discours liminaire de Tasha Lackman, présidente-directrice générale de Centraide du Grand Montréal, une ancienne élève de Trafalgar dont la carrière témoigne de tout ce que la formation dispensée à Trafalgar peut vous apporter.

Our Secondary V big sisters met with their Secondary I little sisters before school on Tuesday to decorate flower pots and plant bulbs together! It was a great morning of connection and another example of how we encourage cross-grade activities to foster mentorship and school spirit. We can’t wait to see the blooms later this spring!

La semaine passée, nos élèves étaient à Place Bell pour voir battre Vancouver 3-0 et décrocher sa place en séries éliminatoires de la PWHL. Des soirées comme celle-ci font partie de la réponse.

The Prefects brought the festive spirit to life this Wednesday with a surprise lunchtime hunt in honour of Easter and Passover!
Students searched the halls for hidden eggs, which were exchanged for delicious chocolate eggs or chocolate matza. Three lucky winners who tracked down the elusive golden eggs walked away with gift cards! Thank you, Prefects, for a great afternoon of holiday fun!

Last week, our Head Girl and Subhead Girl candidates gave their speeches and hung up their posters. Students and staff vote this Friday, April 10th, and we’ll announce the winners early next week. As an alumni, do you remember the excitement of running for Prefect?
