CTF offers computer and printing services to McGill undergraduate Science students. Our labs are open to all McGill students from 9-5 on weekdays.
CTF has over 100 computers located in the three labs in Burnside and remote stations in Lyman Duff, Otto-Maass, Stewart Biology, and Rutherford. Free printing services and after-hours lab access are available for all Undergraduate Science and Arts & Science students who pay the McGill Science 21st Century Computer Fund. PRINTING UPDATE!
We are now pleased to offer free printing services for science students at remote locations around campus! Please see the poster below for details. Thank you for your patience while we worked on bringing back this service.
Welcome back!
You may be wondering whether the CTF computer labs and printers will be open for use this year. As you may know, the basement of Burnside Hall is undergoing renovations and is inaccessible at the moment. We are looking into other alternative ways to establish access to computers and printing, and will keep you updated!
Our laptop lending program is still ongoing, and we are excited to be rolling out a set of NEW laptops soon, so that more will be available to borrow.
As always, we are still providing services for organizations including web hosting, elections administration, and web application development. Contact us for more information.

We are very excited to be offering our services once again! From computer labs, printing, laptop rentals, website hosting, webapp development, and more, we're happy to be back! Want to help out? We are also looking for new volunteers (ALL WELCOME!).

Q: Will the computer labs and printing services be available this semester (Fall 2021)?
YES! After some hiccups at the beginning of the semester, our shiny new printers are now connected and ready for your print jobs! Our computer labs are open for use to science students 24/7. If you require any help, see if there is anyone in our office in Burnside Hall room 1B19.
***QUOTA ISSUES***
Some people may be missing quota due to some remaining issues. If you think you are missing quota, please e-mail us at [email protected] or check if we are in our office in room 1B19.
**COVID-19 MEASURES***
Masks are required at all times inside the labs. Please maintain 1m of physical distance from others.
Q: I'm new to McGill! Where are the computer labs?
Welcome! Our computer labs are located in the basement of Burnside Hall, room 1B16 and 1B17. We also operate a study space in 1B18. If you need help, try our office in room 1B19!
Q: Who can use the services?
All undergraduate students studying in the Faculty of Science (including Arts & Science) have access to the following:
- 24/7 computer lab access in Burnside Hall Basement
- 250 pages of printing per semester
- Laptop lending service
We also offer services to clubs and other student groups, along with events that anyone is free to participate in! Our labs are open to all students between 9 am - 5 pm on weekdays.
Q: I want to get involved! What do I need?
CTF is a 100% student volunteer-run organization. We are always looking for new volunteers to help with both our technical and non-technical projects! We maintain servers, develop websites and webapps, organize events, and more.
- Learn to administer Windows and Linux systems
- Learn to manage web servers, Docker containers, and hypervisors
- Gain experience working with multifaceted systems
- Make friends and join a fun community
