💡 What if we've been talking about climate change the wrong way all along?
That's the question at the heart of a compelling personal essay on Happy Eco News by Norm Leo, former Head of Science Education at Montréal's Biosphère — and author of the new book Look At It This Way.
After years of experimenting with how to communicate climate change to museum visitors, Norm discovered something striking: fear-based messaging wasn't inspiring action. It was causing anxiety, numbness, and shutdown. Two-thirds of young adults now experience eco-anxiety, yet only one in four say they're interested in climate solutions.
The breakthrough came when he stopped framing solar panels as a climate choice — and started framing them as a smart investment that keeps your lights on during a blackout and your food cold when the grid goes down. Suddenly, people leaned in.
His book, published in December 2025, is literally designed to flip the narrative — structured so one side covers climate impacts and the other presents solutions, organized around five themes that touch everyday life: health, wealth, food, water, and infrastructure.
The core insight? When people see how climate solutions benefit them — not just the planet — they don't tune out. They get curious. They get inspired. They take action. 🌿
This is a genuinely refreshing read for anyone who cares about how we move people from anxiety to agency.
