👂✨ A Special Presentation at PET! ✨👂

Last Friday, Ms. Nadia and Ms. Carissa’s classes had the privilege of welcoming a very special guest presenter — our very own Grade 4 student, Jones, and his educator, Ms. Taylor.

Together, they delivered an exceptional presentation about hearing, hearing loss, and Jones’s personal journey. Students had the opportunity to learn through interactive activities, thoughtful discussions, and firsthand experiences that helped deepen their understanding and awareness.

Thank you, Jones and Ms. Taylor, for sharing your knowledge, experiences, and inspiring message with us. Your presentation was engaging, educational, and truly memorable!

4C’s reward day and end-of-year party were a huge success! Students enjoyed a morning of outdoor fun at the park with sports, sprinklers, and a Mr. Freeze treat, followed by a classroom party filled with snacks, treats, and cake🧁 School’s out for the summer! 🎉🌞

Pierre Elliott Trudeau daycare is honoring two remarkable educators, who are retiring after over 20 years of volunteering and working in daycare. Filomena Spedaliere and Pina Di Re have showed so much dedication in their work, patience and shared their wisdom with not only students but their colleagues. Your creativity shined through the beautiful art activities you have done with your students, sewing, the stories you have shared, the amount of hard work you put in day after day. You both leave an incredible legacy behind. Thank you for being such wonderful educators to our students, lovely mentors, and friends to your colleagues. The entire school community between students and staff members, shared beautiful memories, reached great milestones, happy moments, and some tears/ chaos along the way. However together always stood as one united family. With heavy hearts we say goodbye, but we are so happy for you. Wishing you the happiest, most well-deserved retirement! Un cadeau rempli d’amour, de gratitude et de sens 🌿
Aujourd’hui, les élèves de la classe 4C de Mme Farideh ont offert à leurs parents un petit cadeau préparé avec beaucoup d’amour, de soin et de respect.
Chaque famille a reçu deux boules de graines, une petite boîte en papier faite à la main, ainsi qu’un sac signé par les élèves. Ces graines sont le symbole de tout ce que nous avons essayé de faire grandir ensemble cette année : l’amour, la gentillesse, la curiosité, la vérité, l’esprit critique et le courage de toujours chercher à être du bon côté de l’histoire.
À travers ce geste, les élèves ont voulu remercier leurs parents pour leur confiance, leur soutien et l’amour inconditionnel qu’ils offrent chaque jour à leurs enfants.
Un code QR accompagne également le cadeau. Il mène à une petite lecture préparée par les élèves, dans laquelle ils partagent ce qu’ils ont appris au fil de nos semaines de jardinage ensemble.
Ce projet représente bien plus qu’un simple cadeau de fin d’année. C’est une façon de célébrer l’apprentissage, la gratitude, la nature, la communauté et tout ce que nous avons cultivé ensemble, dans nos jardins comme dans nos cœurs.
Les boules de graines peuvent être plantées dans un jardin ou conservées pour être plantées plus t**d, où et quand les enfants le souhaiteront. 🌱
Bravo à nos élèves de 4C pour ce magnifique travail rempli de sens, de douceur et d’espoir.

🔥 Sparking New Skills at the Coyote Program! 🐺✨

There is nothing quite like the feeling of learning how to build and manage a fire safely. In our latest wilderness skills session, our coyotes practiced the foundational steps of fire-making, focusing on patience, preparation, and fire safety!

Here is how we broke down the skill:

Small-Scale Practice 🥧 Before building a large campfire, we used individual aluminum pie plates as contained, safe spaces for students to practice arranging their tinder bundles and small kindling. It’s the perfect way to learn structure without overwhelming the flame!

The Bow Drill & Friction Prep 🪵 We also introduced our primitive fire-making tools, including a wooden hearth board and spindle. Learning friction fire is all about understanding the relationship between different types of wood and proper body mechanics.

Safety First, Always 🛑 We emphasize strict boundary setting and controlled environments when working with fire, teaching our campers how to completely extinguish coals and leave no trace behind.

Building a fire from scratch teaches self-reliance, respect for the elements, and critical thinking. Amazing job to all our campers who brought their focus to the circle today!
