The 2026 CAP‑CRM Prize has been awarded to Pavel Kovtun (University of Victoria)

His research has transformed our understanding of matter under extreme conditions by revealing deep connections between gravity, quantum field theory, and fluid dynamics. Best known for co‑discovering the universal quantum viscosity bound, his work has had a lasting influence across high‑energy and condensed‑matter physics.

This award highlights the international impact of his pioneering research.
