Les projets Wikimédia ont émergé d’une ambition utopique : instaurer un modèle décentralisé, coopératif et non propriétaire destiné à créer et à diffuser « la somme de toutes les connaissances humaines ». Wikipédia, l’un de ces multiples projets, demeure un exemple majeur des biens communs numériques et est devenue aujourd’hui un incontournable de l’infrastructure de l’Internet actuel.

La place stratégique de ces biens communs dans le paysage numérique et informationnel les expose toutefois à des offensives de plus en plus nombreuses et violentes contre la véracité et l’intégrité de l’information.

The belted kingfisher is native to North America. Its breeding habitat is near inland bodies of water or coasts across most of North America. This species has a surprising feature: the female is distinguished by a rufous stripe on her upper belly, which is rare among birds. It is usually the male that stands out in terms of coloration.

Le Martin-pêcheur d'Amérique est originaire d'Amérique du Nord. Son habitat de reproduction se situe à proximité des plans d'eau intérieurs ou des côtes sur la majeure partie du continent nord-américain. Cette espèce présente une particularité surprenante : la femelle se distingue par une bande rousse sur le haut du ventre, ce qui est rare chez les oiseaux. C'est généralement le mâle qui se démarque par sa coloration.

🌎 We are currently hiring a CANCUS Hub Administrative Manager. Reporting to Wikimedia Canada’s Executive Director, this role will be housed at Wikimedia Canada.

The Wikimedia Foundation has recently approved the creation of the CANCUS (Canada, Caribbean, and U.S.) Hub. The CANCUS Hub will unify regional efforts, help bridge content gaps through targeted community engagement and training, and provide a stable and streamlined path for diverse voices to join the projects. The barn swallow is the most widespread species of swallow in the world, occurring on all continents, with vagrants reported even in Antarctica.
In North America, barn swallows frequently engage in a mutualist relationship with ospreys. Barn swallows will build their nest below an osprey nest, receiving protection from other birds of prey that are repelled by the exclusively fish-eating ospreys. The ospreys are alerted to the presence of these predators by the alarm calls of the swallows.

L'hirondelle rustique est l'espèce d'hirondelle la plus répandue au monde ; on la trouve sur tous les continents, et des individus ont même été signalés en Antarctique.
En Amérique du Nord, l'Hirondelle rustique développe parfois une relation de mutualisme avec le balbuzard. Elle bâtit son nid à côté de celui du rapace et bénéficie ainsi de sa protection, cet oiseau se nourrissant exclusivement de poisson. Par ailleurs les balbuzards sont avertis de la présence de prédateurs par les cris d'alarme des hirondelles.
