Very, very please to share this short video documentary on the extraordinary journey of the Bờ Vở-Chương Dương Forest-Park, a green open space recently established on the banks of the Red River. The new forest-park is an exemplar of a innovative model of public space production in Hanoi, pionneered by Think Playgrounds - Nghĩ về Sân Chơi trong phố. Departing from a conventional, top-down, state-led planning approach, this model prioritizes the development of socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable public spaces through participatory and collaborative methods.

The Bờ Vở-Chương Dương Forest-Park is redefining what green and open spaces can be in Hanoi. It exemplifies the profound impact that public spaces, produced through community-based planning and design approaches, can have on local social cohesion and well-being. This model offers valuable insights for future projects seeking not only to palliate to an enduring shortage of open and green space but also to rely on these essential amenities to integrate environmental renewal with social enrichment in Hanoi.

The history of International Women's Day began on March 8, 1857, when female textile workers in New York City, for the first time, fought for their harsh and deplorable working conditions. Since then, for two centuries, the date 8th of March has been chosen by women around the world to stand up for voting rights, equality, maternity rights, child custody, and violence, ... By doing so, women keep constantly promoting global civil rights progress.

Named after that milestone of human history, the 8/3 Textile Factory was a political device that fundamentally nurtured the socialist ideology. Its creation empowered the female workers to take on both roles: production and reproduction. Our next close-read story will set light on the unheard and unforeseen aspects of this heroic period.
