Already two weeks since the Montreal Summer Choral Academy 2026 came to a close… and we are still smiling thinking about it!

Cette année, l’Académie a réuni plus de 125 choristes, 8 jeunes chef.fe.s de chœur de grand talent, et près de 1 000 spectateurs à travers nos concerts, ateliers et activités.

Every year, we are reminded of the incredible power of choral music. Building an ensemble in just a few days with singers who had never met before, then watching them become a true musical community, is always inspiring.

What a joy it was to watch our conductors-in-residence learn, grow, and gain confidence under the exceptional mentorship of Prof. Jean-Sebastien Vallee. Their progress in just a few short days was truly remarkable.

Merci à tous les participants, aux mentors, aux artistes invités, à notre formidable équipe, et à tous ceux qui sont venus partager cette aventure avec nous.

Venez célébrer le grand concert de clôture de l’Académie chorale d’été de Montréal avec une version spectaculaire de Carmina Burana de Carl Orff comme vous ne l’avez jamais entendue auparavant.

Sous la direction de Jean-Sébastien Vallée, plus de 130 chanteurs et musiciens se réunissent dans l’acoustique grandiose de l’église St. Andrew & St. Paul pour la création mondiale d’un nouvel arrangement pour chœur, orgue et percussions. Portée par l’orgue majestueux de l’église et l’énergie brute des percussions, cette relecture saisissante de l’œuvre emblématique d’Orff promet une expérience musicale immersive, puissante et inoubliable.

Under the direction of Jean-Sébastien Vallée, more than 130 singers and musicians come together in the magnificent acoustics of The Church of St. Andrew & St. Paul for the world premiere of a new arrangement for choir, organ, and percussion. The free opening concert of the Montreal Summer Choral Academy, Mystical Hope explores the space where human hope meets mystery and the sacred. Led by Jean-Sébastien Vallée, the Academy’s professional chamber choir invites audiences on a contemplative musical journey where the beauty of the human voice becomes a bridge between earthly experience and the divine.

THE PASSING OF THE YEAR
Presented by the Schulich School of Music of McGill University

A concert of the Montreal Summer Choral Academy, The Passing of the Year explores the many ways we experience the passage of time. Through themes of memory, changing seasons, reflection, and remembrance, the program illuminates the fragility and beauty of our shared experiences and the moments that shape us.

Performed by the Academy’s professional chamber choir and conducted by the Academy’s resident conductors under the artistic direction of Jean-Sébastien Vallée, this concert invites audiences on a deeply evocative musical journey.
