The Board of Directors are a major part of the ongoing success at SC by making big picture decisions, participating in , and participating in committees. These commitments span over the year and can be in flux depending on what’s going on and your own capacity 🌱

💫 Feb. 21st 6-8P 🌟In honour of Black History month, Sustainable Concordia is hosting a short lesson and panel on resisting greenwashing from a global Black perspective hosted by our Finance Coordinator, Omi Rodney. During this panel, we’ll learn from American organizer and journalist Jaylin Ward and Montreal’s community activist and author - Alexandra Pierre on historic actions taken by Black communities across the diaspora to adapt in spite of violence, erasure, and economic dispossession and how we can use these lessons to plan for our future. Are you interested in being a part of the sustainability initiative within & beyond Concordia? Are you passionate about learning, growing and collaborating on all things sustainable? You’re in the right place! Joining the Board of Directors at Sustainable Concordia is an excellent place to start (or continue) your journey...

Sitting on Sustainable Concordia’s Board of Directors provides a great opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience in community organizing and non-profit work. It is a volunteer position with a minimum commitment of one year. This includes regularly scheduled Board and committee meetings, and offering feedback in decision-making processes. Directors can lean into their interests, or practice new skills by joining committees dedicated to different aspects of SC’s functioning (Finances, Communications & Outreach, Education & Engagement, Human Resources & Governance). The Board of Directors are therefore important to the ongoing success of SC by making big picture decisions, exercising voting rights (modified consensus), and participating in committees.
What does the commitment look like? It is important to note that these commitments span over the year and can be in flux depending on what’s going on and your own capacity.

Sustain’alive is a series of free workshops organized by Sustainable Concordia, which seek to carve a space to ignite and develop theoretical and practical skills for grassroots organizing. The series happens annually throughout March and April, but for this year we will have it every Tuesday of March 2023.

Whether you’re an experienced activist, you’ve felt the call towards action recently, or you’ve wandered from activism and need a gentle pull back in, Sustain’Alive provides the space and resources to connect, create, and co-conspire for a more humane future.

This is an opportunity to ready our communities to fight back, resist extinction, and form the bonds we need to reshape a livable today and a better tomorrow.

For 2024, we are opening up the opportunity for facilitators, community groups and organizations and educators in Concordia or in Montreal who are interested in giving out a workshop, teach-in, info session or any other format on any of these topics:
