Wow! Grad Michelle Tzontchev, BFA 22, will represent Canada in the race for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards, starring as Roza/Rose in Nina Roza!

🎬 The film has already been awarded the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the 2026 Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival

Nina Roza représentera le Canada dans la course à l’Oscar du meilleur film international, avec Michelle Tzontchev, diplômée en interprétation théâtrale de l’Université Concordia, dans le rôle de Rose.

🌱 SEPT 8–13 │ Montreal Concordia University alumni are helping shape the first-ever Montréal Climate Week, with more than 125 events taking place across the city.

Co-founded by Juliette Champoux-Pellegrin, BComm 25, and Gabriela Lopes, BA 18, the week also includes contributions from grads Nilufar Sabet-Kassouf, BSc 10, Anthony Garoufalis-Auger, BA 21, Mélodie Le Siège, BA 10, and Aphrodite Salas, MA 99, as well as Professor Damon Matthews, director of Future Earth. Alongside Concordia partners include Volt-Age, Future Earth Canada, 4TH SPACE and the Concordia Food Coalition.

🤼 Meet grad Kristara Napier-Davies, BA 20, aka "The Sweetest Pea", who is making history on Quebec’s independent wrestling circuit.

🏆 After winning the IWS - International Wrestling Syndicate’s top championship, she became the first Black woman, and one of only a handful of Canadian women, to hold the major title.

🌟 "I don’t want to just be the first and the last," she says. As a champion, main-event performer and role model in a sport long dominated by men, the history and political science alumna hopes her journey will inspire more women to step into the ring.

✨ Bravo! Concordia University, Faculty of Fine Arts alumna Tiana McLaughlan, BComm 19, aka honeydrip, is featured in La Presse as one of the artists to watch at this year’s MUTEK Montréal.

Today, the Montréal DJ and producer will premiere v i b r a t i o n at the Société des arts technologiques [SAT]. With a minor in Electroacoustic Studies, she returned to her alma mater earlier this year as a guest artist for The Wheels of Steel, a Communication Studies course on DJing and music production.

🐾 SEPT 25 | A round of a-paws for this year’s Shuffle pets! Members of the Concordia University community will lace up for the annual 6.5-kilometre walkathon in support of student success, and some four-legged Shufflers will be joining in too.
