Dear friends, please note that all liturgical celebrations for the 2025-2026 academic year will end after our last mass on May 15th. From May 16th to August 14th, the Centre will be operating on summer hours, without any liturgical celebrations taking place. We shall resume regular hours and liturgical activities on August 15th, the Solemnity of the Assumption.

For those who are still around Montreal in the summer, the Newman Young Adult group has also planned fun social activities and outings; you are more than welcome to join us!

Please contact us if you have any further questions. We wish everyone a restful summer!

Christ is risen, Alleluia! Happy Easter to all!

Congratulations to this year’s RCIA members, who have walked through the journey of faith together in the past academic year. They were baptized, received, and/or confirmed by our chaplain, Fr. Anthony, during our Easter Vigil celebration.

We wish everyone a blessed Easter season. As this academic year draws to a close, we also pray for the students as they prepare for their exams, and for the graduating students as they discern their next steps in life.

Please join us for a discussion on the topic of Chinese Catholic sacred art this Thursday at 6pm at the Claude Ryan Library of Newman Centre.

From the earliest Christian encounters in China, missionaries and lay Catholics turned to sacred art as a unique spiritual channel to draw faith and Chinese culture into a deeper union. In the 20th century, a school of artists from the Catholic University of Peking (Fu Jen University) made remarkable contributions to modern sacred art that were rooted in the Chinese spirit. Among them were Madelena Liu and her son Francis Zhang, who would make their way to Canada, where their artistic and spiritual journeys continued to unfold. Drawing on his life journey, Francis will help guide us into the world of the Chinese Catholic imagination.
