🎄 Happy Holidays from your Campus Safety & Security Team!

As we wrap up another year, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to our wonderful community. 🛡️✨

2024 has been a busy year for us! From helping students find their way during a busy orientation week to providing safety escorts for those late-night study sessions, our goal has remained the same: keeping our campus family safe and supported.

Heading home for the holidays? 🏠 Enjoy your time off! While the halls might be quiet, we aren't going anywhere. Our team will be on-site 24/7 throughout the break to keep an eye on things and ensure our campus is ready for your return in January.

Stay safe, stay warm, and have a fantastic holiday season! ❄️

Reminder: Halloween Costumes and Safety on Campus

Hi everyone,

As we get ready to celebrate Halloween, we want to remind everyone that costumes are welcome on campus — but they must respect our Code of Conduct and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Please keep the following in mind when planning your costume:

🎭 Respect and Inclusion
Costumes should be fun and creative, but not offensive or discriminatory. Avoid themes or symbols that mock, stereotype, or marginalize individuals or groups.

⚠️ Weapons and Imitation Weapons
Real or imitation weapons — including toy guns, blades, bats, or any object that could cause alarm or be mistaken for a real weapon — are strictly prohibited on campus.

🎓 Respect for the Learning Environment
Costumes should not disrupt classes, services, or college operations. Masks or face coverings that hide your identity may be asked to be removed inside buildings for security reasons.

Thank you for helping us keep Halloween safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone at Vanier.

If you have any questions about what’s permitted, please contact Safety & Security Services or the Office of the Code of Conduct.
Have a safe and spooky Halloween!

On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., the Safety and Security and Communications teams will be testing our emergency alert systems. This is a crucial step to ensure we can effectively communicate with everyone in the event of a real emergency.

The test will be brief and will clearly state that it is only a test. You will see a test message appear in the following ways:

- As a push notification through the Omnivox app

- On the Omnivox web portal

- On computer screens across the college via the Alertus system

Thank you for your understanding as we work to ensure the performance of our systems.

As a result of the power outage impacting numerous areas across Quebec, including the N building on Vanier campus :

* All regular day and evening classes are cancelled for the day
* All in person activities are canceled for the day
* Some services may be offered remotely but please keep in mind many employees may be experiencing power outages at home and may not be able to answer within regular delays

The College will also be closed tomorrow and Monday for Easter weekend. We will resume our regular activities on Tuesday.

Wishing everyone a safe long week-end,

Information for students: What to expect, what to do

The College has been working on an Academic Continuity Plan, i.e. how to make sure that students can complete their courses, in anticipation of various possible scenarios. All Vanier College students must respect existing parking regulations on campus at all times. Vanier College students who do not respect the regulations mentioned below face the risk of receiving parking tickets, having their vehicle towed and facing disciplinary measures including suspensions and expulsions.

The regulations are as follows:

1) Students must always park their vehicles in the designated P7 parking lot;

2) Students must pay the existing parking fees of $3 per hour and up to a maximum daily fee of $10;

3) Students must display the parking machine-issued receipts on the dashboard of their vehicle so it is visible at all times;

4) Vanier students must not park in any of the other designated lots located across the campus;

5) Students must park their car in a legal fashion and never take up more than one spot.

Thank you for your collaboration on this matter.
