Don't let what you learn on the piano be governed by what you think you should learn. Figure out what notes the metro plays before closing its doors. Try playing the chords of your favorite pop song. There is so much fun to be had if you're open to it!

We often practice piano like we cook, starting at the beginning and working through to the end. But I've found that its actually better to mix things up. Learn the last three bars, try the left hand chords in the middle of the song, master the transition after the introduction. This way, you don't rely on what comes before to play what comes after. You'll play the entire piece with the same confidence you normally have at the start. And you'll have more fun 😉

About Me: I’m a pianist and composer with a BFA in Music Composition from Concordia University. My work has been featured in productions such as Qanuilirpitaa (CBC) and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (Netflix). While I have a strong foundation in European classical music, I love exploring and composing in a wide range of styles.

I believe learning an instrument should be fun, tailored to your musical interests, and supported by engaging, achievable practice.

Hi all!

My name is Willem and I’m a St-Henri-based piano, music theory, and Ableton production teacher.

I grew up surrounded by music (thanks to my percussionist mother!) and am now a pianist and film composer with a degree in Music Composition from Concordia University. I have worked on films such as Qanuilirpitaa (CBC) and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (Netflix) as well as the Netflix series Gentefied. I have a background in European classical music and experience composing and performing in many different genres. I play piano, acoustic guitar, the dunun family, and the bansuri. My goal is to help others foster a love for playing music!
