Streamlining of projects has been done since time immemorial. Be it building the architectural marvels like the temples of southern India or the pyramids of Egypt to how a person arranges his/her kitchen to make the process efficient. In this information era, the need for streamlining has become more inevitable when we are building marvels with data and technology at exponential speed.

Project management paves a way to streamline & track various metrics throughout the lifetime of a project, starting from initiation to completion within a set framework. Not only this system makes the current process efficient and directional, the metrics on one project provide the milestone for the next. The modern definition of project management and the various roles started becoming commonplace since the 1900s. A quick timeline shows how this has evolved over time over different domains and what is expected going forward.
