QUOTES
"Jacob is an excellent teacher, whose passion and knowledge over the last two years has taken me from basic drum concepts all the way to advanced studies in the Moeller method. His instruction provides solid fundamentals in drumming; from reading and coordinated independence to improving your "chops". It's always kept fun though with the application of these fundamentals to many different music styles such as rock, jazz, Latin, or anything else you would want to try. With Jacob's instruction, along with hard work and practice, I have grown in leaps and bounds as a drummer." Matthew G. Ph.D.
... because even a virtuoso seeks clarification on refining their skills. Quote "I dig your playing big time and wanted to see if you do any online lessons or skype. I am trying to get my single stroke up and it is around 107 with or without Moeller but past that it is a strain. I am the guy that played with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters. I have good chops but need to hit the next level and you are there. Dig your big band drumming man lots of fire. " Mike Clark circa 2014 - (Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Tony Bennett, Brand X, etc)
"I would like to extend my personal thanks once again for being a great drum teacher. I have learned a lot in the time we have had and look forward to more sessions (after summer). Any student should consider themselves lucky to be taught by you. You have much insight and much real life experience to offer. It just shows that even after playing for 25 years myself, I can always learn more and extend and break out of my own boundaries." HolloW (Metal -Symphonic Black/ Death/ Power/ Thrash) Blake L.
"It's been a little over 2 years that I have been taking lessons with Jacob Kaye. I am so excited about my development, I wish I had met him 10 years ago! My technique, reading and independence has dramatically improved. Jacob is passionate about teaching drums with the goal of taking his students to highest level. The only limitation is the student's desire and the availability of practice time. My goal is to play all the styles of music from Rock to Jazz , and with Jacob I'm definitely on my way." Roger D (CFO of major International Company)
"Jacob, you've got GREAT hands!!! ...hands from hell...@%!"" Jim Chapin - circa 2005 (20th century’s most influential drum set educator) * Above quote made with Kenwood Dennard - Berklee College Music, Russ Miller - 2012 American Idol drummer, recording artist and Geoffrey Lang - Nikki Yanofsky in attendance.
"Studying with Jacob has been a rewarding experience in many regards. Through his teaching, I have been able to deconstruct and rebuild my playing habits, using proper technique and placing emphasis on being confident and relaxed in my approach. He provides constructive feedback which really facilitates the learning process, and is genuinely interested in developing a lesson plan to enable you to reach your personal goals, whatever they may be. Highly recommended for those who wish to take their drumming to the next level and beyond." - Sean J. Ph.D. candidate
"Thank you for the wonderful lesson. I enjoyed it a lot. I will print these exercises and get to work. I will see you soon." Camil B. - Member of the Trio Lorraine Desmarais.
"Since I have been studying with Jacob my hand speed has doubled. My independence is more solid, and I appreciate his willingness to take me out of my comfort zone in order to build my chops, I came to Jacob for drum set but, I have also seen a huge improvement in my timpani chops as well. I feel lucky to be studying with a master." Terrence L, B.M. Northern Kentucky University (Orchestre Symphonique des Musiciens du Monde & Orchestre symphonique de l'isle)
"I think of the concepts you taught me often ... I spoke of you to Ralph Angelino (Montreal Drum Fest, creator). I want him to know about you. You're a great person, a great teacher. Thanks, again, for your great words of wisdom..." Percussion for Chantal Chamandy's Egyptian Tour - Bertil S.
"I contacted Jacob Kaye for his knowledge of the Moeller technique. I had heard a lot about this technique and tried to implement it in my playing, however it wasn't until studying with Jacob that I started to actually get a handle on it. Jacob is extremely knowledgeable about drumming and has a keen eye for spotting weaknesses and helping students progress to the next level. Jacob is an old pro, who has studied with Jim Chapin himself and selflessly shares his deep knowledge of music to his students. He is a real gem for our city and the drumming community. Don't miss the opportunity!" Elijah B. (Concordia)
