From engaging opening remarks to powerful panel discussions and hands‑on workshops, the vibe in Ottawa on Sunday was incredible!

➡️ Health & science students and CBHSSJB Chairperson Jeannie Pelletier shared their journeys
➡️ Interactive workshops where participants reflected, discussed, and filled their niimuutan
➡️ Afternoon session focussed on how far we have come since the signing of JBNQA with JBNQA signatories Dr. Robert Kanatewat and Dr. Philip Awashish, along with Grand Chief Paul John Murdoch and Deputy Grand Chief Linden Spencer

Over 200 adult learners from Higher Learning, Sabtuan Adult Education, and Post-Secondary Student Services arrived Friday in Ottawa for the 2nd edition of the Higher Learning, Building Capacity Conference 2026!
✳️ Each student received a handmade ᓃᒨᑖᓐ niimuutaan — symbolizing the tools and strength they carry on their learning journey. We hope this 3-day conference adds even more to their packsack.
🪡 The niimuutaan were crafted in iiyiyiu aschii by a team led by Mary Sarah Shecapio (Mistissini) and Rebecca Ida Blackned (Waskaganish).
