Early Childhood Cognition Lab conducts research in young children's learning and social cognition.
Young children are naturally curious, and motivated to learn all about the “hows” and “whys” of the physical, biological, and social world. Theory of mind is the cognitive capacity to understand that others have different beliefs and mental states from one’s own. Before about age four, many children do not have this full capacity. They assume that everyone knows what they know, even when others have had different experiences.
