What if I tell you that leaving my PhD was the best decision I ever made?
Would you believe me?
After more than 10 years of experience in research (in my home country), I decided to Master out of my PhD in year 3, here in Montreal. Although it took a lot of courage to make this decision, I look back now and realize that everything happens for a reason... I wouldn't be pursuing this project if I wouldn't have left my PhD.
Would you believe me if I tell you that to be a scientist you don't need fancy degrees, or diplomas hanging on your wall?
You just need to BE CURIOUS, ASK THE QUESTIONS (even the ones you think are dumb), and LOOK FOR INFORMATION. Reach out to scientists, teachers, educators, ask the questions, look for answers.
We are BORN scientists, don't you forget that!

Science doesn't have to be fancy or expensive...
We can teach science with simple things like Playdoh! Here you can see how one of my students used Playdoh to build a model of the animal cell!
As educators we need to remember that there is SO much more to science than what we find in the textbooks. And if we want to have kids who are actually interested or curious about science, WE need to make it curious and interesting!

Me siento increíblemente afortunada de tener amigas que apoyan mi proyecto, que han comprado mis libros y los han compartido con sus amigos y sus familias.
Compartir nuestra pasión por la ciencia fue lo que nos unió como amigas, y ahora tenes un peque precioso con quien compartir esa pasión. Espero que disfrute del libro cuando empiece a leerlo o cuando se lo leas.

Et si nous commencions à enseigner les sciences avec une approche plus dynamique et plus intéressante ?
Pourquoi utiliser des manuels scolaires alors que nous pouvons utiliser de la pâte à modeler pour représenter les différentes étapes de la germination ? C'est le travail réalisé par l'une de mes classes d'éducation spécialisée dans une école de Montréal, où nous avons étudié le processus de germination avant de nous lancer dans notre propre projet scientifique ! 🤓
