My Story

Anyone can learn! Technique & ear training. Various styles. Learn to play your favorite songs! I have been playing the piano since the age of 4 and teaching children and adults for over 25 years. Music is in me! I'm always singing, humming, or playing a song. I have played for worship teams in churches, as well as privately for weddings, funerals & schools. I've been playing so long I can't remember when I WASN'T playing music!

​For some people, however, learning to play the piano can seem quite daunting. I hope to remove those fears and be able to open a whole new world of learning, fun and creativity to my students. I like to have fun in class and that means I'll play games, use technology, sing and make crazy faces...all part of the creative process in making music. I want to help develop the student's ability to read the musical language and learn to play pieces on their own, especially to play the type of music that is interesting, relevant and important in THEIR life. This may be classical, worshipful or it may be today's pop chart songs. If you love the song, you'll enjoy the practice that goes along with it. ​

A lifetime appreciation of music is enhanced when one hears a song and is able to play it on the piano. This is called "playing by ear". Since it is my goal to equip a student for life, I put a lot of emphasis on ear training. I encourage students to pick their favorite song and we'll learn it together, in a style that they like. Learning to play the piano is not only for children, but for adults, too!! It's never to late to learn, even if it's only for your own personal enjoyment
