A young professional recently asked me “How can I sound more confident as a speaker?

It gave me pause. Is confidence a sound?

How do we, as listeners, evaluate weather a speaker has confidence?
And is there a sound attached to that?

I’m curious. Any thoughts?

I am so curious.....

How do you PREPARE for your presentation or talk?
Do you get your power point slides in order and then have your partner/spouse/colleague/friend sit there and watch you?
or
Do you stand in front of the mirror to see what you look like as you present?
or
Do you record yourself on your phone and watch it back?

You might have other ways you prepare.
I would love to hear what it is you do to get ready.

And do you physically prepare, too?
Sitting on the sofa speaking to your friend is definitely NOT the same as speaking to a group of people.
It requires something extra of us.

Whether you have been asked to speak in a meeting on a topic or you have a presentation to give or even more uncomfortable....your boss has asked you to speak up in meetings because THEY DON'T HEAR ENOUGH FROM YOU, this can be so uncomfortable. More than that. Sometimes terrifying.

I coach a practice that actors use in preparation before a performance. This simple technique can make a huge difference in how you are feeling before walking into that meeting.
