Curious about how often Nigerians abroad call friends or relatives in Nigeria? These graphs will give you some answers!

In all three age groups, most Nigerians call their friends or relatives several times a week or more. But older Nigerians are more likely to call friends or relatives every day than younger Nigerians.

Collectively Nigerians abroad send about 25 Billion USD back to Nigeria. Check out this series of graphs based on our surveys in Ghana and Canada!
You might be wondering whether remittance behavior differs across age groups. These two graphs will give you a glimpse of the remittance behavior by age group. Older Nigerians more often send money than younger Nigerians. The difference in remittance behavior between the 25-44 years old and those 44 years and above is relatively small.

Does interest in the politics of Nigeria differ by educational level? Around half of Nigerians are interested in the politics of Nigeria across all education levels. The interest in the politics of Nigeria differs only slightly between those with different education levels.

Are you wondering about differences by parenthood status? Around half of Nigerians, either with or without children, are interested in the politics of Nigeria. But Nigerians with children are slightly less interested in the politics of Nigeria than Nigerians without children.

Does marital status matter? Around half of the married and unmarried people are interested in the politics of Nigeria. But unmarried people are slightly more interested in the politics of Nigeria than married people.

How about differences by gender? Men are more interested in the politics of Nigeria than women. A majority of men are interested in the politics of Nigeria while less than half of women are interested in the politics of Nigeria.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the Nigeria leg of the Nigerians At Home and Abroad research project. We are still in the process of analyzing the collected data and it will take a few months before the results can be published.

Which age groups of Nigerians abroad are most interested in the politics of Nigeria? In each age group, there are around half of the Nigerians abroad interested in the politics of Nigeria. The difference between all three age groups is small.
