The Technology, Learning, & Cognition Lab investigates how technology augments the learning process with a focus on educational video games, tablet computers, and mathematics education.
In the lab, we conduct research with both children and adults both independently and in collaboration with local game developers in Montreal. Here are some of the questions we are asking: are video games able to simultaneously entertain and educate? How does learning within a game occur and does it change how the content is understood? Does the tactile nature of tablet educational games constitute a ‘hands-on’ interaction and is it a formative factor in tablet computer learning? How does learning mathematics via a game affect the way children solve mathematical problems and can games make children like math?
The lab is accepting new students and volunteers.
