hmm I wonder if I’ve made it clear enough that I REALLY NEED TO COUNT during these bars of rest 😂
Can anyone guess what piece/movement this is? 😊
Come see me COUNT REALLY HARD this Thursday if you live in Montreal! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rachmaninoff-tchaikovsky-symphonic-concert-orchestre-mtl-tickets-1985413900422

Getting back to the death whistle with one of my favourite excerpts! 🥰
I haven’t played picc since January … 😬 But my unintentional break is over!! I’m doing long tones, I’m doing scales, I’m doing vocalises, and I’m slowly trying out some classic excerpts. I love Beethoven 9 so much and it’s WILD that the piccolo only comes in towards the end but such is orchestra life. Would be so fun to perform this one day! :)
Have you been practicing your piccolo lately? I feel like I’m asking if you’ve taken your vitamins 😂

Happy Friday I love playing the flute, did y’all know that? 😊

Erin and I have now finished recording all three movements of this amazing Bozza duet, Trois mouvements pour flûte et clarinette! It’s really bubbly and fun, with a more tender section in the middle.
Recorded at the Centre SANAAQ with audio engineer Ludovic 🥰

Erin and I had a fabulous time recording some duets this morning! 🥰
We went from hyper modern Bozza to hyper romantic Ku**er - quite the contrast haha! Big thanks to Ludovic at the beautiful Centre SANAAQ for engineering the session 😊

Snagged this photo yesterday when the sun was bright and my flute reflected a pretty shape on the wall! 🥰 It felt like the first true day of spring here in Montreal and it was positively delightful 🩷

Can there be such a thing as too much Beethoven? 😂 (the answer is no, of course)
It’s been a few years since I started keeping a spreadsheet of all the orchestral music I’ve performed as well as the music I want to learn (it’s a loooooong list). Every so often, I pick a piece and sight-read the music while watching a performance of it (usually by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony 😍). And now I’m embarking on a more specific project of choosing one composer at a time and playing through all their symphonies, starting with one of my absolute favourites 🙂
I’m sticking to using the flute 1 parts for now, but if I have the energy, I may go through all the symphonies a second time and play the flute 2 and/or piccolo parts! A fun and educative way to listen to and learn beautiful music 🥰
What’s your favourite Beethoven symphony?? I think mine is a tie between 3 and 9!

So many of my favourite things in one picture 😍
My flute, Cabbi the cat, my flowery bedspread, a Wicked pillow, a picture of my bestie Jackie and me - I quite like how joyful my room is! 🙂
Happy Monday 🩷
