🏆 La Dre Bethany Foster reçoit la Médaille d'excellence en recherche 2026 de la Fondation canadienne du rein — et c'est amplement mérité !

Scientifique principale au Programme santé de l'enfant et développement humain de L'Institut, la Dre Foster a consacré plus de vingt ans à transformer les soins en transplantation rénale pédiatrique. Son travail continue de façonner la façon dont les soins aux enfants et aux jeunes adultes vivant avec une maladie rénale sont dispensés et compris — au Canada et bien au-delà.

Pédiatre en chef à l' de Montréal pour enfants - Montreal Children's Hospital et titulaire de la Chaire de pédiatrie de l'Université McGill, elle est une voix incontournable de la néphrologie canadienne. 🌟

🏆 Dr. Bethany Foster has been awarded the 2026 Medal of Research Excellence by the The Kidney Foundation of Canada La Fondation canadienne du rein — and it couldn't be more deserved!

Senior Scientist in The Institute's Child Health & Human Development Program, Dr. Foster has spent over two decades transforming pediatric kidney transplant care. Her work continues to shape how children and young adults living with kidney disease are treated and understood — in Canada and far beyond.

Pediatrician-in-Chief at the Hôpital de Montréal pour enfants - Montreal Children's Hospital and Chair of Pediatrics at McGill University, she is one of Canada's leading voices in nephrology. 🌟

Comment offrir des soins plus sécurisants sur le plan culturel aux patients autochtones?

🔬 Une nouvelle étude dirigée par Romina Pace, M.D., M.Sc., chercheuse au sein du Programme de recherche en désordres métaboliques et leurs complications à L'Institut, propose des pistes concrètes.

Publiée dans le CMAJ, l'étude a réuni 20 patients et 11 proches aidants de la Nation crie d'Eeyou Istchee, qui ont utilisé la méthode Photovoice et des entrevues pour documenter leur expérience de soins au CUSM et proposer des pistes d'amélioration : meilleur accès à l'interprétation, présence accrue des proches et de la communauté et accès à des Aînés, à des guérisseurs traditionnels et à des espaces culturellement accueillants.

Une recherche élaborée en collaboration avec le Conseil cri de la santé et des services sociaux de la Baie-James. 🤝

How can hospitals deliver more culturally safe care to Indigenous patients?

🔬A new study led by Romina Pace, MD, M.Sc., a scientist in the Metabolic Disorders and Complications Program at The Institute, offers practical guidance.

Published in CMAJ, the study brought together 20 patients and 11 support persons from the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee, who used Photovoice and interviews to document their care experiences at the MUHC and share ways to improve them: better access to interpreters, greater flexibility for family and community presence and access to Elders, Traditional Healers and culturally welcoming spaces.

Research co-developed with the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay. 🤝
