And it’s definitely not a marker of business success.

In a copywriting session, I am fantastic at cutting your copy in half. ✂

I can see where you’re skirting around the point, adding unnecessary fluff, and going on tangents.

But I’m equally good at taking you DEEPer.

Because context, story, analogy, and example are what brings your work to life for your reader.

What is it about marketing our work that brings this out of us?! 😅

I want to let go and just show up as me, I really do.

And I know I can.

But then all the stories start.

âšĄïž My strategy is not consistent: no one will trust me.

âšĄïžMy brain is not linear: no one will understand me.

âšĄïžMy aesthetic is stuck in preschool: no one will like me.

âšĄïžThis may be playful but it’s not professional: no one will pay me.

Do you notice how all of these judgements are based off of external perceptions (how others will feel and act)?

I do this all the time. We all do.


And this is why marketing is such a mountain ⛰

ESPECIALLY for those who naturally find consistently, linearity, and superficiality hard.

🎯 Because conventional strategies teach us to look at how our content will “perform” and think about who we’re looking to “target” and “convert.”

All the content tells us we’re making a mistake if we follow our joy and deviate from the plan.

It has us reverse engineering a process based on an outcome.

A process that inevitably overrides our natural capacities and ignores our innate strengths.

And then we wonder why we hate it and never show up for it 😆


What if the target was inward?

What if a successful piece of content was one that accurately represented the work you do?

Or one that emanated the essence of who you are?

I know this is the way you approach life. Inside-out.

Trusting that what is meant for you will find its way to you. đŸ’«

So how about approaching marketing the same way?

Then my question would be: What feeling are you looking to bring to your process?
