In this episode, we break down what criminal law is and how it works. Criminal law deals with actions considered harmful to society — actions that are defined as crimes by law. When a crime occurs, the state investigates, brings a case against the accused, and the court examines the evidence to determine guilt. If guilt is proven, punishment may be imposed to protect society and discourage future crimes.
