😰🤔 It’s normal for your students to be curious about why teachers are on strike. However, this may lead to some uncomfortable conversations.
Check out these answers to your students’ most pressing questions! 📝💬
1️⃣ How much money do teachers make? A: Our salaries depend on things like how long we’ve been teaching, how much schooling we did, etc... Part of our money goes into something called a pension. Let’s look into what a pension is together.
2️⃣ Can teachers be fired for going on strike? A: In many places, teachers are legally allowed to go on strike without being fired for it. Going on strike is a way for them to express their concerns to the government and improve their working conditions. There are rules and laws around strikes that protect the rights of workers.
3️⃣ How long will the strike last? A: How long it can last can vary, but it ends when agreements are reached in negotiations.
4️⃣ Why are teachers on strike? A: Teachers strike to address their concerns about their pay, their working conditions, and education quality.
5️⃣ Why doesn’t the government want to help teachers?A: The government has to make decisions based on many different factors. They have a lot of responsibilities, and they have to manage budgets for many different things, like education, healthcare, and more. Sometimes, there might not be enough money to give teachers everything they need, and that’s when teachers might go on strike to get the government’s attention.
It’s important to remember that the government wants to provide a good education, but they might have different ideas about how to do that. Teacher strikes are one way for teachers to tell the government what they need to do their job better. It’s a way for them to get the government to listen and make changes.
