"Interconnecting Dialogues" is a continuation of Arts East-West's Panel Discussion series, moderated by Guy Rodgers. This panel will discuss pathways for bridging the gaps between generations and sectors in the arts, and building new bridges between cultural communities. The first session of this panel brought together Cheryl Sim, Abdul-Wahab Kayyali, Janet Lumb, Kakim Goh, and Jinwoo Park to discuss personal narratives of navigating the arts as an Asian artist. This second session will expand on an inter-generational and cross-cultural lens by including younger artists and non-Asians in the arts sector, to better discuss how to support each other.

The key themes discussed in the panel will include:
⭐ Building sustainable bridges between Asian-Canadian, anglophone, francophone, and other cultural communities
⭐ Diversity within different cultural organisations, especially in leadership positions
⭐ Pathways for continuing and deepening intercultural dialogue

ENG: CALL FOR ESSAYS — Asian Screen Culture in Quebec
AAPLab × 13th MAiFF 
AAPLab, in partnership with the 13th Montréal Asian International Film Festival (MAiFF), invites emerging and established writers, artists, researchers, and creators to submit essays reflecting on Asian film and media events that took place in Montréal between January and June 30, 2026.
We are seeking critical and creative responses from the Asian diaspora and pan-Asian film and media arts communities that engage with the evolving landscape of Asian screen culture in Quebec. 
Submissions may include:
• Text Essays (5–8 pages)
• Photo Essays (10–15 pages)
• Video Essays (5–10 minutes)
We welcome:
• Critical analysis
• Personal reflections
• Community perspectives
• Creative responses
AAPLab (Asian Arts Publication Lab) is a Montréal-based research and creation laboratory dedicated to fostering inclusive and decolonial dialogue surrounding Asian arts, diaspora, and media culture. As a year-round project of Arts East-West, AAPLab creates spaces for artists, scholars, and communities to share ideas and reimagine connections between East and West through art and media.

Arts East-West Arts East-West is a nonprofit organization based in Montreal that seeks to empower the voices of Asian artists in Canada, Korea, and pan-Asia. Its annual film festival, the Korean Film Festival Canada (KFFC), will hold its 12th edition from May 22nd to June 28, 2025.

The Asian Diaspora Book Collective (ADBC) presents Book Dongne, an initiative that celebrates Asian screen culture and literature through community discussion! ✨ Join us on March 6th from 11:00am to 8:30pm at Goethe-Institut Montreal to step into a day full of engaging workshops, musical performances, and cultural memory.

We are proud to announce that Book Dongne will feature a workshop hosted by Jinwoo Park, author of the celebrated novel Oxford Soju Club and winner of the 2020 Jim Wong-Chu Emerging Writers Award. His workshop “Fermenting Time, Memory, and Story” will allow audience members to connect with each other and their stories.

More highlights from the event include…
⭐ Music performances, film screenings, and zine-making workshops
⭐ A celebration of Korean fermented sauces and food through tastings
⭐ All exhibitions featuring over 20 artists including Ziya Tabassian, Abdul-Wahab Kayyali, Le Lin, Janet Lumb, Mei Chui, Thelma Castro and many more!

The ADBC book club will resume online on February 7th at 11:00 AM, hosted by Jinwoo Park, Director of ADBC. Meetings are 75 minutes long and held every other Saturday on Zoom.
